| The State of Oregon has 206 incorporated cities. The largest is Portland and the smallest one is Greenhorn. There has been talk about 7 cities that are west of Portland joining and if they do by the year 2010 they will be almost as large as Portland. Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Sherwood, Lake Oswego, and Tualatin. In 1999 the total population of these cities was over 250,000. One of them (Sherwood) is the fastest growing city of any city of the North West States. Between 1990 and 2000 it grew more then 250 %. The same thing would happen if some of the cities that are east of Portland, like Gresham, Oregon City, Troutdale, Wood Village, Fairview, Wood Village, etc. This group would be over 100,000. There are sets of cities that are next to each other that most people think are almost one city, like Salem and Keizer, Eugene and Springfield, Tigard and Beaverton, and Oregon City and West Linn. Tigard goes all the way around the city of King City and Portland goes all the way around Johnson City. |
| The populations listed here are what the state think the populations were by what the state think they were on July 1, 2000. The US population count for 2000 as posted. |
