STATE MOTOR RADAR DETECTOR LAWS

This web page is a listing of the different state laws about the use of radar detectors in motor vehicles. If your state is not listed, than your state has no laws against the use of radar detectors.
The following states have a law that says that any conmercial vehicle or trucks, can not use radar detectors in their vehicles. You can use than in your own car but no commercial vehicles.
ALABAMA
COLORADO
IDAHO
ILLINOIS
KANSAS
MARYLAND
MISSOURI
MONTANA
NEBRASKA
OHIO
OREGON
TENNESSEE
TEXAS
UTAH
WASHINGTON
WISCONSIN
The following states have other rules that do NOT allow the use of radar detectors.
NEW YORK (Commercial vehicles over 10,000 lb -other vehicles 18,000 lb)
VIRGINIA (No detectors )
OKLAHOMA (Cops can cite as a traffic violation)
WASHINGTON, DC (No detectors)
Almost any city or county can have their own laws. Check before using them. This list can change any time.
