The Shire of Dragon's Mist invites all those with interest in the arts and crafts of the SCA to Arts Gathering.
Arts Gathering is a place to come together to discuss and exchange ideas, socialize and learn, all related to those things we make and do in the SCA. This is a family friendly event with room to work on personal projects you bring as well as classes to take and an opportunity to see and share, followed by an evening potluck.
A social area will be open throughout, sewing machines available for use, and space for you to work on your pet projects or simply enjoy others' company. Beverages will be available during the day; bring your own lunch. Several eclectic classes will be presented, most participatory. Wear clothing that you can get artistic in. Classes which supply materials may charge a small fee: this information will be available in advance on the schedule and class information page and from the autocrat.

In addition to classes there will be workshops, an A&S Display during lunch and an A&S Chat before dinner.
There is also a period dish cooking contest at the potluck.
There is no pre-registration, all classes are first-com, first-served.
There will be a few merchants selling their own works. Merchants will be available to discuss their arts with interested parties.
Gold Key (loaner garb) will be available.

Rolling carts, hand trucks, and strong young assistants will be available to help teachers and workshop coordinators get their materials into place and packed up afterward. There is a nice elevator, as well.

Date and times: February 16th, 2008. Site opens at 9:30 am and closes at 9 pm.

Potluck @ 6 pm: Period dishes are encouraged but by all means not required (however autocrat will supply recipes and direct to resources if asked). The shire will provide one dish which will be created at the cooking class. Please bring a dish to feed 10 people. There is refrigeration, stoves, ovens and microwaves on site for storage and reheating purposes. The site is dry, thanks.

Directions:

   From Washington County: Take the Sunset Highway (US 26) toward Portland. Take the I-405/Salem exit, then exit 1C Ross Is Br. Follow signs to the Ross Island Bridge/US 26 east. At the far end of the Ross Island Bridge take the 99E/Milwaukie exit onto McLaughlin Blvd. 4.4 miles later turn left onto SE Washington St. Turn right onto SE Main St., continue on SE Lake Rd.

   From Washington State: Take I-5 south to exit 300B OMSI/Oregon City. Follow signs for US-26 and merge onto SE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., which will become SE McLoughlin Blvd. past the viaduct. 5.9 miles later turn left onto SE Washington St. Turn right onto SE Main St., continue on SE Lake Rd.

   From south of Portland: Come up I-5 to exit 288 I-205. Take exit 13 to merge onto OR-213 N Milwaukie/82nd. Ave/OR-224 W. Take the OR-224 W exit. Merge onto OR-224, turn left at SE Edison St. Turn right to stay on SE Edison St., turn left at SE 35th Ave. then right at SE Lake Rd.

   From the east: Take 1-84 through Portland to I-5 southbound. Take exit 300B OMSI/Oregon City. Follow signs for US-26 and merge onto SE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., which will become SE McLoughlin Blvd. past the viaduct. 5.9 miles later turn left onto SE Washington St. Turn right onto SE Main St., continue on SE Lake Rd.

   Using TriMet: Get to the Milwaukie Transit Center using any of these routes: 31-Estacada, 33-McLoughlin, 34-River Rd, 70-12th Ave, 75-39th Ave/Lombard. Walk south on 21st then turn left onto Lake Road.
