From: Mike Sander <344LWKC@CMUVM.CSV.CMICH.EDU> Date: Saturday, 18 Jul 1992 23:02:49 EDT Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn Subject: [DQ] Lancos: Ready to depart Characters: Lancos, SunStorm, 'Raelf, Kadrys, Valgar (the "Official" DragonQuest members) For the second time in as many mornings, Lancos stands outside of the Dragon's Inn and recollected the events of the previous night. After the speech by SunStorm [ADMIN: I hope this post appeared at YOUR site], his first thoughts turned to the road ahead. And to a man who had travelled much --some would say TOO much-- of his life, the road meant getting supplies. After checking on the needs of the other members of the party, he was on his way. The majority of the rest of the day was spent gathering the goods, and indirectly exploring the city of Generica. Lancos could not help but note the irony that, just when he knew the town the best, he was preparing to leave it. He had returned to the inn just as the sun was starting to set. He distributed the items asked for as best he could, considering that SunStorm was not there and drink had made 'Raelf partially incoherent. He had watched Zia make her final appearance and announce her death (well, at least as far as HE knows). Upon viewing the spectacle, Lancos said softly "Although I knew thee briefly, you made a difference -- to me, and especially to Kadrys and 'Raelf. Due to that, I swear, shall the opportunity arise, I will make a difference on the Quest, in your memory.". Lancos looked up, realizing that he had unintentionally said his vow aloud. His discomfort was erased when he saw Kadrys and 'Raelf disappear and then reappear seconds later. He dismissed this and Zia's death in favor of thinking about the path ahead. He knew that if the former was important they would tell him about it, and that he had dealt with the latter as much as he could. After spending the night in the Inn, he had awoken early and made a final check on all the arrangements. Now, as he entered the inn, he saw all but SunStorm at the table now. "Where's SunStorm?", he inquired. Kadrys spoke up first: "Still sleeping. He went to a seer, and may have had trouble sleeping with the words received there on his mind." Before Lancos could respond though, SunStorm came walking down. "Kadrys told me you went to a seer?" And so the conversation had gone on, with the riddles and the lessons on how to pronounce 'Raelf's name. Afterwards, Lancos said, "Well, I promise that I'll work on those riddles. However, all I can tell you NOW is that everything is prepared for the start of the quest if YOU are." [ADMIN: I REALLY hope the group received Patrick's 500_+-line post, or else at least some of this won't make sense. Well, the (infamous) ball is in Patrick's hands now.] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Sander AKA Lancos Erredan 344lwkc@cmuvm.csv.cmich.edu
