Then a thought dawned on him: 'Use what helped you out last time!'. He quickly grabbed his mysterious medallion and held it out in front of him, adding a teasing "Remember this?" to his foe. Krastin paused for a blink of an eye, remembering the strange feeling he had encountered in his last battle. And in that moment, Lancos pulled the medallion over his neck and reached for his blades. [ADMIN: I hate to keep using the medallion to "save" Lancos, but this time it's for the best. Trust me on that! You'll see !] Although his blades were raised nearly instantly, he could not prevent Krastin's blade from causing a gash in his right shoulder. Lancos staggered back a bit, the pain sweeping away the remainder of his stupor in time for him to parry Krastin's second shot. Lancos followed with two attacks of his own. both sparking uselessly off Krastin's shield. Lancos chided himself for aiming his blades too close together as he dodged Krastin's next attempt. Soon afterwards, however, a brief smile crossed Lancos' face as his scimitar entered Krastin's left leg, forcing the latter to move back out of reach --but only for the scantest of moments. Stepping in, an evilly grinning Krastin scowled, "Prepare to die, mortal!". The grin did not dissipate, even when his attack went wide. Lancos had heard this type of comment before. However, considering that the previous battle had proven Krastin to be the better overall fighter, Lancos decided to encourage the talking in hopes of distracting his opponent. "That's almost as tacky as that 'Dark Armor' moniker of yours!" [small nod to Stephen aka 'Raelf for the "inspiration" here], he said. He barely misses with his first attack, but puts his second into Krastin right below the left shoulder. Krastin's ego would not let that insult pass by. "Name's Krastin. If it really matters, I'll see that it's put onto your GRAVE!", reemphasizing the word by sticking his blade into Lancos' chest. The conservation --mainly insult trading-- quieted until only the opponents could hear it, but continued as the battle raged on. All too soon Krastin had added a small cut to the head and a nasty leg wound to Lancos, with the latter placing a deep stomach wound to the former. Still, it was obvious to the combatants that Lancos was starting to lose the fight. This was further emphasized by Krastin's blade cutting into Lancos' right arm. Lancos, starting to consider more desperate measures, decided to close in and try to use his strength and shorter weapons to his advantage. The two struggled until their faces were mere inches apart. However, Krastin proved to be the stronger on this occassion, shoving Lancos into the wall of the Dragon's Inn behind him. Lancos' head hit the wall with a nasty sound, and his body started to slip down it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Sander 344lwkc@cmuvm.csv.cmich.edu AKA Lancos Erredan SAQ: "Been dazed and confused for so long..."-Led Zepplin
