'Active' is here intended to mean 'posted within the last four months or so'. The purpose of this list is to give players/readers a handy reference to other peoples' characters and the players' e-mail addresses. Ideally, the characters listed herein should be available for interaction, although they may not at present be within the Inn proper. If you desire to use a character on this group, please send me a brief description of the character. This is not a requirement, but a request: this list is a service, not a tax form. No summaries will be rejected provided you intend to actually use the characters in question. Summaries should cover basic and obvious information: physical descriptions and mannerisms, attitudes, and any simple background you wish to include. Summaries should optimally be kept to ten lines long, each of less than 80 characters. In order to keep this list tidy and accurate, please inform me if you intend to suspend a character temporarily or permanently. If you want to take a character summary off the active list, it will not be deleted; instead, I will move it to a 'sleeper' file in the event you wish to reactivate it. It is very important that you volunteer to help in this matter if you wish to be on the list, as the clutter of 'unused' characters can make this file very long indeed. Periodically, I may conduct a census to see if everybody on the list is still in fact 'out there'; failure to respond to such a census may result in consigning of characters to the sleeper file. In the course of maintaining this list, I am bound to make mistakes. Please contact me if any information regarding your character is incorrect. Typos will also be gladly fixed if you point them out to me. I do not have the time to perform large-scale maintenance on summaries; hence, your summaries should be fairly long-term in nature. Fast-changing data such as your character's location or current quest should not be included in the summary. If a more permanent change must be made to a summary, contact me with the details. (Posting time is roughly quarterly, with updates as necessary.) ***************************************************************************** **Alarond Cameleon**: (Jackie Mondak) JMONDAK@vax.cns.muskingum.edu Alarond Cameleon is a Changeling who was raised by a small, peace-loving faction of the High Elves. He is a Shapeshifter and Handyman/Thief by trade and has a love of unusual gadgetry, which he has an assorted collection of. He, like those who raised him, is a peace-loving creature--his only weapon being a small, but effective, Elvish dagger--but he can be quite feisty when cornered. He prefers to be a jokester and he tries to keep morale up at all costs. He does have a few other little added abilities which can also come in handy such as his keen intuition (he has unusual, prophetic dreams..) and his heightened awareness of his surroundings in general. He friend of all especially of his company which includes Elanon, Aleric, Kyar, and Ildamar. He enjoys adventure and loves to tell a good tale because of all the adventures he has been party to. **Aleric n'hir Lyorn**: (Heather Sexauer) hsexauer@muskingum.edu Aleric is a member of the ancient Lyorn warrior tribe. His physical attributes are characteristic of the race, and thus unusual since the tribe has been almost extinct for several centuries. He towers over the average human at 6'9", but has a slender frame. Like most Lyorns, his hair is a fair golden color with a bronze complexion. The one typically Lyorn trait that identifies him anywhere are his blue eyes that change shades according to his state of mind. His favorite weapon, but by no means his only one, is his broadsword Xel'ha. This weapon is a true piece of craftsmanship which is elementally linked to the Lyorn blood and to Aleric in particular, since he is the heir to the tribe's heritage as shown by his hidden name: Nilsangehir (Lastblood). The blade can never be used by any but a Lyorn for its peculiar characteristics will prevent this. As a highly skilled warrior he possesses the usual abilities in warfare but also in woodcraft. He has limited psychic abilities, as these are usually reserved to the star-eyed of his culture. He is ordinarily a reserved person, but with a very sharp sense of humor that shows itself when the situation merits. Aleric is easy going and likeable fellow who can usually win over most people in a short time. **Alfvaen**: (Alfvaen) aaron@amisk.cs.ualberta.ca Alfvaen is a half-elven thief, who occasionally uses magic but doesn't rely on it. He's quick-witted and free with his tongue, but a true friend once you've earned it. He journeyed to a place called the City of the Dead, where he died the first time. His soul was trapped by an amulet he wore, and Lassiviren the Dark, a drow assassin (whom some of you might remember from the AD&D Rogue's Gallery--slightly modified for my purposes), took his place, leaving the City. Upon Lassiviren's subsequent death, Alfvaen reappeared. He has basically settled in Generica for the nonce, working for Moriarty Investigations. Recently, the soul of his beloved Elstree was also trapped in the amulet, to save her from sacrifice to Lolth...so they are once more united, in a fashion. **Andrea and Sheryl**: (Chris Meadows) chm173s@nic.smsu.edu Andrea is a human thief, mid-twenties, with dark hair that falls midway down her back. She usually wears a black tunic and black breeches, and she has dark brown eyes. Her figure, while slightly sculpted, is not so voluptuous as to merit being (vulgarly) referred to as "stacked." She has an air of silent competence about her, and yet there is also often something of despair, an uncanny combination to be sure but an interesting one. She usually carries several concealed weapons, including a small dagger in a wrist sheath on her right arm and a magical Dagger of Resource (Complete Thief's Handbook, pg. 107-8, TSR) in a sheath hidden inside her tunic (not that this is common knowledge, of course). Sheryl is a young white unicorn filly, of the typical AD&D breed. She stands about 9 hands high at the withers. It is unsure exactly why this creature of purity travels with a thief, but their bond is a strong one. **ar'Elya**: (Penny Hutchison) penny@agora.rdrop.com ar'Elya appears in Generica as a 5'8" female human, with red-brown shoulder length hair, grey eyes, lightly tanned skin, straight brows. She has a pleasant voice and an open, ready smile. She's a killer trader, with an incisive wit. She will take on whatever role she finds most appropriate or timely and will sometimes change to a form fitting that role. Usually, when in human society, that will be a human form resembling the stereotype of that particular role, and in Elvish society, she'll be an elf. And so on. She's one of an extremely alien race called the 'kan, who live in a place rather far away from anything. Her family are elementalists for whom roles and interactions are the basic elements; ar'Elya's easiest elements are the roles of Warrior-Athlete, Magician-Scholar, Rogue-Merchant, and Godcaller-Mystic. She will sometimes take a form specialized in one of these roles. The other forms she takes IN GENERICA are as follows: Lady Ale is the definitive femme fatale, with a touch of the scheming Power Behind The Conspiracy. She's a medium-tall woman with very long straight jet-black hair, almond shaped grey eyes, and exotic features. She always wears slinky, evening-type attire, and smokes a very long handled ivory pipe with a very small bowl, with nasty drugs in it. A'ree is a classical Warrior Maid, tall as most men, strongly muscled, with red hair kept braided or wrapped to fit under her helm, green eyes, and sun-bronzed skin. She always has a weapon handy, and is accompanied by Critter (her shapeshifting telepathic animal companion). Sister El'n is the Mother Superior type, wearing full religious habit, and appearing to be somewhere between 50 and 100 years old. She wields a stainless steel ruler as a weapon. She is almost always accompanied by her Acolyte, who is a younger version of herself. She has brown eyes and when her hair is visible, it's also brown. Errol is a trenchcoated spy type. He's short to average, usually wears a trenchcoat and slouch hat, and smokes nasty clove cigarettes. He prefers to operate as a solo or small-groups person but he has been a criminal mastermind in his time. He looks like a dishonest but slick man, with black slicked-back hair, grey eyes, and an insincere smile. Father Howard is a wandering monk or desert hermit type. He looks a bit like Patrick Stewart, but more weathered, and has a kind smile. H'ro is a classical Giant Barbarian Warrior. He's about seven-foot-four, has red hair braided back, green eyes, a dark tan, and is built like the Great Wall. He wears Macho Leather Armor (as little as he can get away with) and will sometimes wield a black runecrusted Greatsword. Archmage Ilya is a youngish man with blonde hair and a beard, usually found wearing wizard's robes. He has blue eyes, and if he's out in public will be accompanied by one or more invisible summoned servants. Leah is a gorgeously stacked woman with blond hair and blue eyes, who usually wears the traditional "sorceress" attire. She is accompanied by at least thirty kitten-sized dragonets, who eat the traces of spilled and leftover magic that she leaves behind when she uses spells. **Arienne**: (Jillian Maree Thomas) 34EP2A2@CMUVM.CSV.CMICH.EDU She's got huge, almost elfin, amber eyes and darkly tanned skin. Her hair is shoulder length, black brown, with streaks of metallic gold. She is a thief, a con-artist extraordinaire-with a flair for losing her money as fast as she makes it. She's a cheap drunk, so has some difficulty remaining single for long. She has recently run away from her latest husband (almost *late* husband), an orc who bought several rounds at some bar. She is fluent in several languages, and easily imitates local and foreign dialects. Weapons proficiency is in throwing -- knives, shuriken, beer bottles and so on. She can usually be seen wearing impractical, but intriguing voluminous type robes, with her trademark thigh high black patent leather boots. **Billy the Torch**: (John E.) JGE103@psu.edu Human Thief. Billy is five foot three, and stocky. He always seems to be poorly groomed, and his clothes are tattered, but not overly so. This is partly to give the appearance of peasantry, enabling him to hide in sticky situations, or blend in with the masses when he doesn't want to be bothered. He doesn't have any magical power, although his intuition is magical in nature. Billy is unaware of this, though, and ignores many of his hunches, sometimes for the worse. Eventually, he will discover this power and use it to its fullest potential, but until then he will run from the trouble he's continually in. His common items include two silver daggers, picked right off of the belt of a baron, a magic bracelet, enabling him to turn invisible, but falling off at inopportune moments. This may be a curse. He always carries common robber's tools, including picks, spikes, pry-bars, and the like, as well as a sufficient length of rope. Billy will probably never be out of trouble, and right now he's being chased by Rommel Ogre, a powerful henchman of a more powerful crime boss, who has a habit of showing up with bad timing to ruin Billy's fun. **Blaze Gethsah**: (christopher motherway) wolvie@cybernet.cse.fau.edu Blaze Gethsah is a sorceress for Bevillsca. Her father, the royal wizard of Bevillsca, was murdered because the townsfolk thought teaching magic to a girl was improper. Blaze left, leaving a suspended animation curse on the town. Blaze is 5'3", 100 pounds with dirty blond hair and light blue eyes. She is as close to an archmage as makes little odds. She met Lance Wolf when she vanquished an ogre who was getting the better of him. They have been traveling together ever since. She wears a deep blue sorcerer's tunic with a light blue hood and cape. **Bluestar Dreamer**: NC312022@wvnvaxa.wvnet.edu I am known as Bluestar Dreamer. I am an elven ranger from the Realms I am also a disciple of Aoihoshi, goddess of the Bluest Night. I have blue hair, azure eyes that glow slightly. I stand at 6'2, and am of average elven build. I usually wear chainmail and blue-dyed leathers with a black cloak. My main weapons are a set of samurai swords and a elven longbow. I am capable of some magics but they are Wild of nature (you never know what will come and hit you out of the Blue). I also have a familiar cat named Gemini. **Bodger**: (Benjamin Tupman) 94BWT@law.newcastle.edu.au Bodger is human (in a manner of speaking), in his late twenties and an unemployed mage from Holisticia. He has unkempt, black curlicued hair, brown eyes and is seen wearing either: a) faded jeans and a tattered black duffle-coat in winter or b) faded jeans and a "Free Sauron Now!" T- Shirt in the summer. Bodger has led an 'interesting' life, ever since he graduated barely from the University of Applied Thaumaturgy. Falling in with his friend Zak, a half-elf, and a band of metaphysically-challenged adventurers, he wandered the Planes, righting wrongs, getting shot at and generally causing havok. During this period, he fell in love with (and married) the daughter of the local Dark Lord (tm) (although he was not aware of this fact at the time) and they had a bouncing baby . . . well, boy. Unfortunately, things did not work out, and they divorced. Part of the reason was their conflicting religions (Bodger was a Dog-fearing athiest, whilst she was into Human-Sacrifice) - another was that Bodger's son did not like him very much and accidently tried to kill him on multiple ocassions (this was before he reahed the age of 4). They did not part on good terms . . . OK, his ex-wife has bands of assassins and her father's army mobilised against him with orders to kill him slowly if he should fall into their hands. But Bodge has put this behind him, and has decided to enjoy life (while he can) to the fullest. It is no coincidence that this dimension he is in is the one farthest from Holisticia in the multiverse. **Boston**: (Christian Buhl) uhs@vsl.ist.ucf.edu Boston is a dark-skinned elf whose background remains a mystery. It is known that at one time he was a powerful Paladin of the order of Curs, indeed, he still bears their coat of arms, yet he claims no present allegiance to the house of Cur. It seems that Boston has forsaken the ways of chivalry to take up the study of magics. The nature of his magical powers, however, are unknown, while it is known that most of his spells focus on either fire or earth, it is not known whether or not his powers stem from elemental powers, or ethereal powers. Some have guessed that he is indeed an elemental wizard, a warlock, but this is not certain, as he is never seen conversing with the elementals, as warlocks are apt to do, and in that he is proficient in earth and fire spells, whereas most warlocks focus on only one of the elements, earth, fire, air, or water. **Cabot**: (A.H.) ajh@panix.com Cabot is a former Spelljammer captain who literally fell upon Generica. He appears as a dark eyed, grey haired, medium build middle aged human. Although only 5' 9", approx. 160 lbs. He has non-descript features. He is wearing a plain grey jacket and pants, a textured belt, carrying his bedroll from a shoulder strap, and a long sword on his waist. No rings or visible jewelry. (The belt is actually his bow if one looks closely and is familiar with a composite bows). Cabot is generally a good person to have around if you are pursuing a non-evil cause and are not sure what you are facing. The possibility of obtaining more spell components is usually sufficient motivation to join a party. Cabot is a wandering cleric of the church of Isis. **Crombie Knaks**: (Carl Fogelin) fogelinc@pt.cyanamid.com Crombie Knaks is an anthropologist from an alternate plane of existance. He was sent to Generica to observe the local populous, especially when interacting with magic. The plane he comes from not only has no magic, but it's physical forces make it impossible to occur. This negative (or anti-) magic exhibits itself in Generica as a "magic dampening" field. Any magic or things which have be created through magic will lose their power when within this field (approximate a 10 foot diameter around his person). Crombie's civilization is strong in technology. He owns a device which will pull in his "dampening field" to within his person. He manifests two guises: an old fisherman and a young anthropologist. The former is a disguise and the latter is his real self. It only can be seen when the "Dampening Field" is out. He owns a fishing boat called the "Lucky Grouper" and likes to smoke cheroots. **Deadeye**: (David E. Hayman) uk576@freenet.victoria.bc.ca Deadeye is a ranger from a land overrun by giants. He isn't entirely sure how he got here, but he had some interesting adventures on the way. He is an excellent archer, and handy with sword, hand axe, dagger and spear. He has two companions, a white raven, and a gnome named Grundel Rootminder. Deadeye is 6'1" tall and weighs 220 lbs. He has some skill at determining the weather, temperate forest survival, and pennywhistle. He is literate, a herbalist, and has skill in animal lore. He has a magic 'skin that is bigger on the inside than on the outside, and a similar Quiver for his arrows, etc. He is well skilled at camouflage, and silent movement, as he is at tracking. Deadeye owns a flask that can pour fourth water and never runs dry. Deadeye is a friendly sort, but isn't talkative. He seems preoccupied. Deadeye is willing to travel, that's what a ranger does. Deadeye rides an over sized Gallimimus. The gallimimus is a toothless bipedal dinosaur which is a scavenger. Gallimimi are about 9' to 10' tall and can run about as fast as a horse when they feel like it. Deadeye also has an amulet in the shape of an white eye with a black pupil, a red upper lid and a blue lower lid. His sword is magic and parries better than a normal one. His dagger is magic and puts out bonfires half the time, and puts out campfires all the time. Grundel Rootminder can do some magic and can fix anything with gears. He wears leather armour with a white image of Yggdrasil (the Norse World Tree) . **Devious Silverblu**: (Ceredwyn "Ceri" B. - DEVIOUS) clben1@giaeb.cc.monash.edu.au Name: Devious Silverblu, also The Devious Paladin. Race: Apparently human. Certain habits suggest perhaps a swanmay. Birthplace: Swanflight. Resident however of Ravenloft. The Devious Paladin was born in Swanflight, the glorious and joyful planar opposite of Ravenloft, where Light Lords rule benevolently. She was raised to be a singer, her original name is not known. When young she chose to take up the blade and become a Paladin. She excelled in her profession, and was sent to Ravenloft to aid in its 'conversion'. To her despair, the Land corrupted her and the guardian to Swanflight pronounced her 'Shadowed by the Land and unfit as yet to return.' In bitter anger, she slew the guardian, was cursed and had her Swanflight name reft from her and now eternally seeks atonement. Devious has fragile blue eyes that seem to see somewhat poorly as though they were once injured and never healed correctly. She is short, wearing blue-grey silver scale mail with blue accents and a wine accented cape and longsword. She seldom smiles with true mirth, mostly its a forced, trapped unhappy grin. But when she sings, then she is transfigured. A true, almost holy joy lights up in her eyes and all pain is forgotten. **Emrikol**: (C Venour) cvenour@cit.gu.edu.au Emrikol was there when the Dragon's Inn first opened for business, but shortly after he went away on business. He has now returned, looking much worse for wear..... Emrikol is a tall, but slightly stooped man - as if he can not stand straight any more. He has little hair left, and what there is of it, is grey or white. He appears to be in his eighties, but he moves like he is still in his mid-twenties. The cause of his aging is evident in the haunted look of his now-white eyes. It appears he has suffered far more than his years would indicate. The skin of his face is like parchment stretched across his skull. He wears a black leather waist-coat, over a loose fitting white silk shirt, that is securely buttoned at the collars and cuffs. His hands are carefully bandaged in white silken bandages, that wind up under the cuffs of his shirt. He wears comfortable looking black leather trousers, and his boots rise above his knees. Although he carries no weapon, he looks constantly on the edge of violence. **Enn Piecy**: scavanag@neumann.une.edu.au Enn is a seer, and he's good at his job. he does all types of work, from peering into his crystal ball to painting palms red to card reading to divining beer. He is actually a young man, but makes himself look old, stooped and mysterious because it comes with the job. He has an assistant; Floth, a dead chicken. Enn is a "utility" character: he can be freely used by all players to tell of forthcoming events in a roleplaying way (instead of announcing a forthcoming adventure, character intro/departure etc, get Enn to "fortell" it). He never leaves the inn, and frequently consults Floth, who in his wisdom declines to comment. Floth never actually decays (Littlefair's food-preserving magic?), but sometimes a peculiar smell may be noted by Enn's clients. If anyone tries to tell Enn that Floth is a)dead or b)just a chicken, Enn defensively mumbles something about species being no barrier to wisdom and Floth's spiritual trances. **Erik, First Shade of Cormyr**: (The Dreamer) asg102@psuvm.psu.edu Erik is a human male with short blond hair and stormy blue eyes. although he appears to be in his mid twenties, he is actually much older. He is never without his GRAYish cloak that flows around him like a cloud of steam or smoke. Aside from his cloak, most of his clothes are dark with a predominance of blue and black. He is 5'7" tall and weighs about 145 pounds with a muscular frame. Erik has the personality of a philosopher; he tends to look at the long term effects of his major actions. However, he is also impulsive and playful, especially when he is with his lover, the 'kan named Lex. Erik has achieved the highest ranking as a ShadowMaker (Probability Mage) and specializes in the element of Air. As such, he is able to control air pressure or call a wind with little effort. He has a lab with his pupil, Luthor Anside, where they is currently researching a method for getting around a magical field that prevents teleportation. When he is not working, he is usually with Lex at the LightHouse or buzzing around Generica. **Erin Solasaise**: (Carl Fogelin) fogelinc@pt.cyanamid.com Erin is a journeyman mage in the local guild, although all her studies are strictly under Errol Trafalgar's tutelage. Living at Warwick's Manse for the last 37 years, her studies have proven she's particularly adept at divination types of spells. However her love of life has led her special- ization into life studies. Erin is elven, 5'5", 120 lbs, with blonde hair, light blue eyes, and tanned skin. It is rare when a local elf will recognize what clan she's from. It's believed that Errol found her on an alternate plane during his travels, al- though he'll deny it. **Errol Trafalgar**: (Carl Fogelin) fogelinc@pt.cyanamid.com Errol is a retired Arch-mage from the local magic users guild. He's human, looks to be in his late 50's, although he retired about 70 years ago. Now he lives in recluse on his estate, the Warwick Manse, primarily doing gar- dening. He also teaches his apprentice/assistant Erin Solasaise, who's studied with him for the past 37 years. He's 5'11", 200 lbs, with salt-n-pepper hair, hazel eyes, with a grey goatee and a handlebar mustache. He tends to be a natty dresser and likes "English" types of things. Meet him for elevenses sometime, he knows a shop or two with a strong brew and tasty scones. **Fire**: (Marc Seebass) SMS27538@vax1.utulsa.edu or seebam@euler.mcs.utulsa.edu or Name: Fire (real name unknown) Height: 5'2" Eyes: Green Build: Slender but well muscled Weight: 100 Hair: Flaming Red Skin Color: Normally has a light tan. Believe it or not, Fire does not get her name from the color of her hair, it reflects her fighting style of quick strikes and retreats, and her temper. Fire is well muscled and slender, she moves with the grace of a cat, and almost never stumbles or trips, although she has been known to recover gracefully from situations in which she shouldn't have. Her air of self confidence is often mistaken for royal bearing, but she makes no claims to royalty. Her small size makes her look more busty than she actually is, a fact that has made her the subject of more than a few ill thought out passes. She wears simple leather armor, high boots and a simple brown cloak. Her hair is shoulder length and has loose curls, and she often keeps it in a pony tail. Fire has been trained as a ninja (or something like a ninja) but her impatience makes her a poor choice for deep cover missions. She works best as a scout or an assassin, particularly because of her ability to kill with her bare hands. Her primary weapons are small daggers and throwing stars that she keeps hidden on her person. She is well versed in forest survival and tracking, in fact she could be considered a ranger. Her greatest asset however is her incredible speed and dexterity. Fire is as quick to anger, but her temper rarely takes the form of a rampage. Instead she likes to get the better of those who have offended her, a habit that has both kept her out of and gotten her into trouble. She is impulsive and prone to making snap judgments and decisions, a trait that is counterbalanced by an open mind and a quick wit. One employer summed her up well: "Fire, like her namesake, is a useful and powerful tool, but playing with Fire can get you burned." **Fwesson and Lyri**: (Frank Schmidt) fkschmid@cip.informatik.uni-erlangen.de Fwesson seems to be an about 14 year-old boy, about 5'6" tall, a human with a light brown skin and brown hair. In fact he's an 'Ageshifter'. (He chose the age of 14, in most ways he's more adult than that; his body can turn down to 6 and up to 40 years, these are borders set by his imagination.) He is sort of immortal -- after his death his ghost slowly becomes material again. But this works the other way round, too. When being weakened enough, he slowly becomes a ghost without having to die. Fwesson has some magical talents: short teleports (costing him lots of his energy), moving of air or other light things (doesn't work on people or animals), and a kind of perception of good. Lyri, Fwesson's young wife, is nearly 14 years old and 5'8" tall, a human with light brown skin (a bit paler than Fwesson's), black hair and black eyes. Usually she's the one who knows better what to do next. Fwesson tries to share his immortality with her, but it hasn't been proven yet if he was successful. Fwesson incarnated himself in this world, his origin is another. Lyri is the daughter of a farmer near Generica. **Gebrion (surname not yet revealed)**: (David Mar) mar@physics.su.oz.au Gebrion is a human traveller. Little is known about him yet, but more will be revealed as the [Tolvaj] thread develops. He wears good quality clothes and carries a sword by his left side (he is right handed). He is generous and friendly to people he takes a liking to, but has very little respect for those who cross him. **Gemini**: Bluestar Dreamer, NC312022@wvnvaxa.wvnet.edu Gemini is a small orange-striped male feline. Although natural in most respects, Gemini has some special talents. One is a high intellect and the other is a high level of psionic abilities. Telepathy, aura-sense, and mind-shield are all of high caliber. If he is capable of other abilities, Gemini has refused to reveil them (you know how cats love secrets). Gemini is bonded by a familiar spell to his partner, Bluestar Dreamer. It is known that he has associated with surfaces elves as well as the Drow of Eilistraee (good-aligned dark elves). It has also been reveiled that Gemini has an evil brother named Draco. **Ghurney**: (Christopher M. Steiner) csteiner@oucsace.cs.ohiou.edu NPC Waitress of the Drift Inn and wife of Splunk. She stands at about 7'8" and weighs 462 lbs. She also has dark hair and a greyish-black complexion for the same reason as Splunk. No one has yet acertained what race she is, but a few have guessed that she might be a half-ogre, half-troll, and the like. She's been known to pick up unwanted guests with one hand and flip them out one of the holes in the walls while calmly serving someone the "special." **Grays**: (Stride) c9412707@alinga.newcastle.edu.au The last surviving member of the ancient Sarapathi, a race of creatures whose home plane, Mythalos, was destroyed. Grays, then a Sarapathi "beam walker" was the only survivor of the demise of the quasi-dimensional Mythalos, as he was in a state of 'spiritual stasis' in Restitution. where he was studying the meditation techniques of the wardens. Sarapathi was utterly destroyed, to the extent that it had never existed. To the best of Grays' knoweledge, all those who were in any way linked to Mythalos simply ceased to exist, with the subspace. Sarapathi are multi dimensional life forms who due to their homespace are natural phase-shifters(ability to move between different time-space contiuum)and shapeshifters(in three dimensional space) The two are intrinsicly linked, and if anything causes the loss of one then the other will also suffer. Grays most natural form in a three dimensional continuum(such as Generica) is of a 9ft tall, 200 kg beast with white fur a long doglike muzzle with sharp teeth and razor claws. Despite his bestial apperance he is always quite civilised. Grays always dresses in a manner which is inconspicuous to the surroundings. Grays now spends his days wandering, as well as telling stories and teaching. his favorite weapons are:the katana "Jusochin", an automatic shotgun, and a discus like device called a technorang. Grays knows several(understatement)languages, is an expert in hand to hand combat (tasaaki ryu taijutsu) and likes to always have several tricks up his sleeve. Grays is not his true name. **Jacana**: (Kermit the Bailey) jkbailey@mmm.com Jacana is a skilled thief and a magician. She is sneaky and crafty and nothing is taboo when it comes to getting what she wants. Her father is an elf and her mother is human. At a young age, when her mother's husband discovered that he was not her biological father, Jacana was sold as a slave to a wizard who was an abusive master. However, she did learn some magic from him, without his knowledge or consent. After the wizard died, Jacana roamed the criminal element of society and eventually ended up working at a brothel. One of the clients, a mage, learned of her fledgling magical skills. He took her as an apprentice. She has been adventuring since completing her apprenticeship, and is well experienced. She is a fairly small woman, about 1.6m (5'3" or so) and about 50kg (110 lbs). She has a very pretty face and a muscular body. She has Mediterranean olive skin and dark hair. She wears dark colors, preferring green, black, brown and blue. **Jacob William (Jac) Benson**: (Spider Boardman) spider@Orb.Nashua.NH.US A seemingly-human duke from the Kingdom of Oth, in a region called "The Homelands", of a world very far from Nexus. Jac stands 240cm (7'10") tall, and masses 195kg (430 pounds). This mass is obviously muscular. Despite his size he moves quickly, with a catlike grace. He has brown hair with two tawny stripes along the top and a darker beard which he wears cropped in a forked style, showing his Kirk Douglas style dimple. He's tanned over what would normally be fair skin. He's rather handsome in an athletic (or piratical?) way. He's equipped as a warrior, with a greatsword strapped behind right shoulder, and a smaller sword on his left hip. He also has a shod staff slung across his back, just showing under his cloak. The cloak is black, with a silvery lining. His breeches and boots are black, his shirt is creamy white, and his belt is a crimson sash. The clothing is of the finest commercial spider silk. Jac has no scars, despite the apparent warrior calling. He looks about 30 years of age. There is a rumour among the Generican city guard that Jac is a paladin. Certainly, when one is close enough to him, there is an aura of peace, or safety, or some such. He can also display an aura of authority, related to his title at home, but he usually keeps that one suppressed. He is a shapeshifter, with several alternate forms available. The 'paladin' aura can be felt from each of those forms, unless he goes out of his way to suppress it. Even then, most undead will notice it. They usually find it painful, and the truly evil undead can't even approach within 15 metres of him. The only one of his alternate forms which has had much interaction with others in Generica is Selna vir Challerburde, a high-elven lady with an apparent bit of sea-elven ancestry. Selna is a wiry 175cm (5'9") tall, massing 58kg (127lbs), with black, sort-of-curly hair, which she usually tucks behind her ears and lets fall freely down her shoulders. Her skin is opaque, basically white, but with a tinge of blue-green. She has violet eyes. Her usual attire is sturdy green and brown cloth and leather appropriate to hunting and tracking in a forest. She is not above dressing up for social occasions, however. Finally, the sword which is usually on Jac's left hip is M'arrella, his familiar. She is a virren sword-cat. She spends a lot of time in her sword shape because she can speak more languages that way. In her cat form, she has black fur, with silver-coloured metallic-seeming whiskers and claws, and she wears a gold collar with a 200 carat ruby set in it. **Jake Pitzar**: (Jason Corley) corleyj@gas.uug.arizona.edu Hard-bitten reporter. Has seen it all. A tough guy who "packs a long-handled knife" because he "stepped on a few toes too many." Underneath, of course, he has the requisite heart of gold and spirit of adventure, but you'd never know it from his callous exterior. **Jameson W. Walker**: (Kelly J. Cooper) kjc@cs.rutgers.edu Standing above average tall for a woman, Jameson has longish brown hair, sea green eyes and generally wears sturdy brown and green clothes. When it's cold, she sometimes dons a long, dark, mottled cloak. Carrying a pack made of strong material and filled with interesting tools of her trade, she does not appear particularly unusual in any way. Except, perhaps, to be a bit more patient than average. And her trade is mapping (cities, continents, worlds, dimensions, universes... you get the idea). Because of her trade, she tends to learn a great deal about a given population, its geography and its history. Her principal talent is languages: learning, understanding and retaining any language she is taught. **Joy**: (Phyllis Rostykus) li@data-io.com Guardian of Hope for this part of the Universe, through the auspices of the Keeper. She has the memories of a starving ex-thief that got taken by a demi-god that was then healed by Dariel (a servant of the Keeper of the Beacon of Hope), half ripped apart by Mar, healed by the new incarnation of the angel Raphael, and then gifted with the powers of the Silver Warrior by ar'Elya. She, presently, is summoned with any expression of joy, and will help people with problems they cannot solve themselves. Part of her power sources from the Beacon of Hope and partially through any joy she meets. She has softly curling hair, gray eyes, and rainbow wings with a metallic rainbow harness and spear, funky and rather different for a god. She is very much into music and in love with Raphael. **Kaalzic**: (Dan Peters) peters@physics.ubc.ca Kaalzic is an artist. He has dabbled in several art forms, but his real talent is in painting. He is responsible for nearly all of the artwork to be found in the Dragon's Inn. Most of his works have a touch of the surreal. He is extremely shy, even to the point of being neurotic. This is related to the fact that his face is badly disfigured. He wears a mask which he rarely takes off (and never in public). He lives in a cabin in the forest, less than a league outside of Generica. His closest friends are a pack of semi-telepathic wolves. His original home is far to the east, beyond the Great Heath. **Kadrys**: (Andrea Evans) Andrea.Evans@orb.nashua.nh.us Kadrys is a vampire. In life he was a thief, and this still shows in his extreme stealth, and his form-fitting, unobtrusive black garb. His attitude is still that of a thief also: quietly spoken, wary, cynical. He is exceptionally ancient even as vampires go, and therefore is unusually powerful, but he never makes any unnecessary displays of his skills. His ingrained caution and subtlety has kept him alive in too many tight corners, so he refuses to divulge the extent of his capabilities. He uses a dry, self-deprecating wit to relax those who come into contact with him. Physically, he is just under average height, lean and wiry, with the lithe body of an acrobat, and an untidy mane of black hair. His most striking features are his eyes: deepset and blacker than the darkest night. A long-unacknowledged need for normal human companionship has driven him over great distances to come to the Inn. **Kalos**: (Dave) d_dilego@oz.plymouth.edu Kalos is an adult Great horned dragon about 7000 years old. He walks about as a human male, 6'3" tall, Caucasian, with long black hair, powerful build, and intense green eyes. He is not from this world, but is a dimensional wanderer from some other planet. He is lost in Generica but will gladly explore for as long as he here. He is beyond mortal reckoning in power on his world, but is somewhat weaker here. He travels dressed in a grey hooded robe (real original, eh?). He is massively strong (he is a dragon after all) and a mage of great power. He's evil, but is honorable and rather friendly (though ruthless). He is very human-like in attitude. He carries a staff covered in runes and topped by a horned skull. Other than that he carries no weapons. (Why bother?) He can shapechange at will and remain in human form indefinetly. **Karadin Redbane**: (Sumner Hayes) gh2e+@andrew.cmu.edu Karadin Redbane comes from the land of Kyzia, where he founded the Caldoonic Order to prevent the misuse of magic in the form of necromancy. While on Kyzia, Karadin's closest friend was Om, a thief with whom he had many adventures. Karadin is a middle-aged human male with traces of elven blood apparent to those who study him carefully. His head is shaven and a tattoo of the eight-spoked wheel (Symbol of Ensortell, Kyzian God of Magic) is centered on his pate. He has a long beard which is carefully braided. Karadin carries an ivory staff, wears a silver amulet at his throat, and has a night-black ring on his left hand. His long-term goals are to combat necromancy and to discover a way to return to Kyzia, though personal complications make the latter extremely difficult. **Kardia Xvaramene**: (Phyllis L. Rostykus) li@inigo.Data-IO.COM 5'10" human woman with shoulder blade length blood red hair, pale grey eyes, lightly tanned and freckles skin, and a golden left foot (given to her by 'Raelf in return for working on Dasham's curse). She's slender, fit, shy around most new people and more inclined toward checking a situation out before becoming involved. She usually walks with a gnarled black oak stick, a harp box, gloves on, and a horse bow made of horn. She's a spinner and weaver/knitter with smooth skin over strong hands and specializes in really fine work. Her spinning materials and weaving procedures allow her to dispel magic, using the finished cloth in a way that sends magic to ground. They are a little bit like a closed circuit to ground when they contact anything magical. **Kariff (the Dark One)**: (Michael Broggy) mbroggy@panix.com Kariff always wears floor-length black robes, even during hot seasons. The cowl is never pulled back, so no one knows what he looks like (at least, no one who has lived). He talks only when absolutely necessary-- hand gestures suffice most of the times. He seems not to walk when he moves, but glides soundlessly. He is a warlock of some note, although he uses his magick about as often as he speaks. He is not evil, not good -- he just is. He does things that need to be done, never seemingly for his own benefit. (Generally, he's based on the Duuk Tsarith from the Darksword trilogy.) **Ka'Ryn Swordslady, House of Lumen**: dvaughn@vax1.umkc.edu PHYSICAL: Ka'Ryn is about 5'1', with a gymnast's build. While she looks human, her people aren't exactly. She's quick, like an elf, with natural sense (hearing, smell, sight) lying close to the elven level (though this is more because of training than any racial characteristic). She has short black hair, golden eyes (if I'd meant yellow, I'd've said yellow), and tanned skin. Those who can look through illusions will notice that her eyes are one solid color, with no pupil or iris visible. EQUIPMENT: Ka'Ryn carries two swords; a green-hilted one over her right shoulder, and one with a black hilt on her left hip. She wears armor of dragonskin/brightmetal/dragonskin under her standard traveling garb of black boots and gloves (fingerless), a faded golden tunic, breeches of heavy dragon skin dyed dark green, woven headband (&belt) of green & white. She wears a medallion on a silver chain, and a dragonskin pouch (small) on a golden chain around her throat. Various daggers and other small weapons are secreted about her person. HISTORY: Ka'Ryn is the thirteenth child of her family, born in the city of Quan in Zandigar. Her parents were arrested for high treason when she was barely weaned. As a result, her siblings have taken rotating turns in raising her; but her strongest influence was swordmaster Chisnimoi Telavar. A friend of the family, Telavar began her training as soon as she could walk, making her the youngest swordslady at the age of thirteen. After settling a family matter of honor, Ka'Ryn left the port city of Kipross and signed on with a party of dragon hunters. In the five years since that adventure, she has returned home only once, to attempt to have the charges against her parents dropped. She was somewhat surprised to find herself on the shores of Generica; since her sister Opal's ship was headed for Dryndar, main trade-city of Shornalia. PERSONALITY: Ka'Ryn is only 19, but her experiences far outweigh her actual age. She is formal, and often painstakingly polite; but will flare into a rage at insults to her family. Her skill with the sword is her only constant, besides the unseen voice with which she (if drunk enough) holds one-sided conversations. Ka'Ryn is quick to make friends, her quick blades and calm demeanor despite her sometime naivete and childish looks making one doubt her actual age. *** Kelanen Aldorion *** (Anthony Ignacio) ignacio@cs.odu.edu Kelanen Aldorion is a Psi-Knight from NeoTerra. Standing at 6'4" and 200 lbs. he makes for quite an imposing figure. With shoulder length dark brown hair and ocean blue eyes flecked with silver, Kelanen is a young man of few words. Regal in stature and graceful in motion he exudes a commanding presence. At this time though, Kelanen appears withdrawn. He is battling his own inner demons. More of his personality and background will be revealed in future posts. **Kevin Garth**: (Carl Fogelin) fogelinc@pt.cyanamid.com Kevin is a graduate student at MIT, working on a PhD in Particle Physics. He just made a mistake with his advisor (Dr. Hawkins)'s pet project and an explosion ensued. He was introduced to Generica (sp. the Dragon's Inn) by being sucked through a temporal tear and deposited, hard, onto the bar. Kevin is 5' 11", 180 lbs, with auburn hair and slightly balding. He came through wearing jeans, a plaid shirt, athletic shoes (Nike), a white lab coat, and safety-glasses. He speaks English and some Japanese. **Khisanth Athnevara**: (Belinda Asbell) mba@ccd.harris.com Khisanth Athnevara, sometimes called Blackblade, is 5'11, with waist-length fiery red hair. She appears not completely human, but neither does she bear traces of Elven lineage. She has some skill at magick, although sometimes the casting of large spells leaves her weak or nauseous due to the kind of magick she uses. She is very dextrous and has some fighting and mental abilities. She recently was resurrected through the combined efforts of clerics of Solonor and Eilistraee. She is mated to Alaric. * Marran'helar (Marra) *: Small black-and-white winged cat. Marra recently chose to become Khisanth's familiar. **Kim**: (Ben) b_gerber@oz.plymouth.edu Kim is a 15 year old thief, residing in Low City. He is short for his age, about 5'4" (and that's being generous) has mousey brown hair, brown eyes, and a general look of innocence about him. He began his thieving career at the tender age of five, and has been happily at it ever since. Kim is an active member of the Thieves Guild of Generica. He is very talented, but not yet very skilled. He relies more on his raw talents...no cat burglar is Kim. He can read and write, and has some bare minimum fighting skills. His favorite color is blue (especially blue precious stones), his favorite food is anything he can get to keep him from starving. He likes tavern music and picking pockets. For more info or requests, please contact the author. **Kitsune-bi**: (Marc Seebass) SMS27538@vax1.utulsa.edu, or Seebam@euler.mcs.utulsa.edu, or Seebass@hpserv.utulsa.edu Race: Apparently Human Sex: Male Height: 5'11" Weight: 165 Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Kitsune-bi is Fire's instructor, a powerful martial artist and wizard. He is charming and mysterious. He is something of a ladies man, and will use his charm on women, but he doesn't make a habit of hopping into bed with them. Anyone who looks into Kitsune-bi's eye for a long time, will swear they saw something in them. Kitsune-bi is a first rate trickster, and prefers to out think rather than out fight, an opponent. Kitsune-bi is rarely seen without a cheerful smile on his lips. Kitsune-bi's other students include Toshima (male), Hananiwa (female), Arashi, and Odoroku. (Arashi and Odoroku are twins, sister and brother respectively.) **Wizard Kival**: (Kelley Miles) miles@masig.fsu.edu or miles@nrlssc.navy.mil Kival is a young-looking, but very powerful wizard about six feet tall and with a skinny build. He has plain brown hair and blue eyes and is always very friendly to those he isn't fighting. He currently lives in the kingdom of Androsia and always wears the blood-red robes of his Society. He also wears a headdress with a large blue gem denoting his status in the Society. He carries a staff with a clear orb in the top about the size of a man's fist. The staff is carved with the symbols of his Society. Kival is often found reading a book in order to acquire knowledge. He follows his queen loyally and wears her golden dove symbol on a necklace. He has been the sworn enemy of the evil Wizard Ciko for many years. **(Lifilis) Kloote**: (Thomas Kettenring) kring@physik.uni-kl.de or kring@efes.physik.uni-kl.de Your first impression is that this human thinks he is better than you. He is very tall and thin, and when you look in his face as he speaks to you, you see primarily his nostrils. (That's also true if you are taller than him.) He may be fifty years old, and he wears clothes that make him look rich. He makes you think of those hundreds of sea snails necessary to dye his purple cloak and shirt. Kloote is a conjurer from the Mysty Mountains, and he is famous there, as he stopped the abductions of nobles by summoning the victims as soon as their abduction was known. He has been given a county for that feat, but recently he lost it again because he wantonly summoned too many horrible and till then unknown monsters, which are now devastating the whole country. **Kron**: (Andrew Solberg) andsol@cml.rice.edu Sergeant T. E. Kron of the Generican Watch had a miserable life; everyone and everything he ever cared for died at his hand. Then the best thing in his fifty-plus years' existence happened: he died himself. Rebuilt and revivified by the strange plant-being called The Green, Kron now appears to be a hale and hearty warrior of thirty; his reanimator took it upon itself to improve some 'design flaws'. He is an excellent warrior, and still favors the short sword and leather jerkin worn by all watchmen. He is of medium height, with brown hair and steel-grey eyes. He carries about him an air of supreme confidence and self-assuredness. However, The Green did not manage to totally restore Kron to his former self; gaps in his memories and psyche surface at times, and they bring him much shame and doubt. Kron can often be found at Kron Park, Generica's name for The Green, or at the Dragon's Inn, which holds many fond memories. **Kryalla Simuel the Shrouded One**: (Stilt Man) foleye@xanth.cs.orst.edu Kryalla has the dubious honor of being the first "dark watcher from the corner," alas, lacking the precognition to see a cult thing in the making. She usually wears a black cloak, sometimes referring to it as her "Shroud," though what exactly she means by that seems to critical of knowledge to entrust to others. Her background is not known by any mortal being, only that she appears and disappears at times throughout the lands, usually with some story or quest for those who encounter her. Kryalla Simuel has apparently long been in a feud with Arcania Dorval, an arch-magess from the world of Arghan who is known there as the Dark One. Kryalla often exudes an air of hopelessness whenever she speaks of this struggle, as Arcania is far more powerful than she is. Kryalla apparently first came to Generica to find allies to aid her in this struggle, and as time went on, the Dark One began to follow her there. As a result, their conflict has spilled onto the world of Nexus. **Kukul Son of Ukambe**: (HWRNMNBSOL, Andrew Solberg) andsol@cml.rice.edu Kukul is a native of an island chain far to the south of Generica. He is one of the younger sons of a tribal chief, and as such is a fearsome warrior as well as one of the favorites of the tribe's terrible Shark God. Kukul is tall and has deep black skin. He is bald, and his teeth have been sharpened to points. Although Kukul is still a savage at heart, the Shark God has ordered him to travel through the civilized lands. Hence, Kukul has learned how to act like a civilized man, and has even attended an academy of learning, where he has gained some skill at history and storytelling. Kukul will not tell why he is in Generica, but he seems to be a student of society. **Kyar of Ra-Kati**: (Jason Rosenberger) rosenje@wkuvx1.bitnet Kyar is a male human warrior/minor psionicist, 5'7" tall and weighing roughly 175 lbs. He has long, light brown hair, and blue-grey eyes. His favorite weapons are the scimitar, which he uses paired, and the Black Bow, a relic of the ancient Imaskari civilization. He very rarely uses the bow, however, for reasons which will become clear as his story progresses. His favorite colors are red and gold, and he usually wears clothing with this in mind. Kyar was born in the Narfellian region of the Forgotten Realms, and began adventuring at an early age. (His current age is 23) His greatest adventures took place in the westernmost parts of Kara-Tur, around the small kingdom of Ra-Kati and the abondoned city of Kushk. During his travels he embraced the religion and philosophy of the Phadra. Kyar gained a vision of true enlightenment on the summit of the mountain of Kushk, and was given a small platinum medallion on a chain that marks him as a servant of the Phadra. It cannot be removed, even by him. The amulet possesses several powers that will manifest themselves later. Kyar's beliefs are similar to those of a shaolin priest. He attempts to avoid violence whenever possible, and to help others where he is needed. However, honor is also very important to him, and when these things conflict, honor must be satisfied. Kyar will never kill opponents of lesser ability than himself, unless he has no other option, or unless the opponent is wholly evil. He tries to live by the adage "avoid rather than check, check rather than hurt, hurt rather than maim, maim rather than kill, for all life is precious." This belief usually conflicts with his childhood teachings of "an eye for an eye." Kyar was transported to Generica by the misfiring of a powerful spell. His companion Daelen, about to be destroyed by Kyar's nemesis, the red dragon Riothamus, cast a spell that converted his life energy into a massive explosion, while at the same time transporting his companions (Kyar) to safety. Riothamus struck Kyar with a psychic bolt of tremendous force that both disrupted the transport and erased Kyar's memory. Instead of being transported to a safe place in the Realms, Kyar was brought to Generica. Riothamus was also able to contain the explosion and survive. **Lance Wolf**: (christopher motherway) wolvie@cybernet.cse.fau.edu Lance Wolf is a human warrior/bard who stands 5'6" and weighs 140 pounds. He hails from the kingdom of Wolverton, where he was a knight under King Kinseeker. After a long furlough, Lance returned to find that a coup had occured and the king killed. He gathered a force and killed the new king and his forces. Unfortunately, the prince, Samson, was harsh on the public, and when the town folk blamed Lance, he fled. He has roamed the lands in his black leatherings and gray shirt as a soldier of fortune. He carries a fire sword which shoots fireballs up to 100 meters. He also carries a mandolin, and it is said that a song comes to life whenever Lance plays it. **Lancos Erredan**: (Michael Sander) 344lwkc@cmuvm.csv.cmich.edu Physically, Lancos stands six feet tall, with wavy red hair and blue eyes. As a warrior, he's equipped with a forest green tunic that cover most of his armor, along with a weapon sheathed on each side. Lancos was born to parents who worked among a group of travelling performers, who couldn't keep track of his exact birthplace or date. It was from them that he began to build his body, and his use of skills of entertainers, from acrobatics to working lights. It was there he was taught to be open-minded and to always stride on despite adversity. And, after the caravan was saved by a group of adventurers, it was where he decided to become a fighter. However, if there was one overriding trait he picked up, it was a probably a propenisty for travel, which is active to this day. Though he makes a point to return to his home realm occasionally, Lancos has experienced a multitude of cultures and races, picking up many friends, more than a few enemies, and the odd slice of life from the communities. Generica is thus his latest stop, one he expected to find new and intriguing things in. But what he didn't expect was the events of the DragonQuest. He found out the full power of the medallion he carried, but that the price was that it could take over his mind, and turn him against his friends. He has since reestablished his confidence in his contorl, largely through another quest. He still has the medallion, convincing himself that it's for emergencies, and only until he finds a proper owner for it; trying to deny the addictive link he now has with it. Another notable event in Generica for Lancos was finding Bast. Bast is a yellow, female alley cat whom the warrior rescued, and decided to take care of. She adds to Lancos' image as a ranger, though Bast sees it mainly as a way to keep fed, and more safely satisfy her curiosities. **Laroo**: (A.H.) ajh@panix.com An extremely intelligent but not too terribly good looking human who views intelligence as paramount, after all, what else has he got? Talented and gruff, Laroo is definitely someone to have along if your goals coincide (it's always worthwhile asking) and you need someone with some understanding of magic. As Laroo's principal business is gems, he wanders a lot and can be found just about anywhere. **Leandro F'liss**: (Heather Loresch) nevyn@camelot.bradley.edu Called Andro or Andy by friends. Andro is prefered. She is a short woman, about 5'3", and strikingly good looking. She has jet black hair that has bluish highlights, and electric blue eyes. She usually wears black, but when she dresses up she wears bright blue. Her ancestry isn't known, but she appears to be part elf. She was abandoned as a child at the assassin's guild in Evermeadow for some strange reason known only to the one who left her there. She was raised to be an assassin. She has great talent for it except for one thing; she is too soft-hearted to kill someone unless they REALLY deserve it or in self defense. She also has great skills as a thief, except she has a huge conscience. She can only steal from really bad people, or people too wealthy to notice, otherwise she goes on a self-imposed guilt trip. She can always find something to laugh about, and she has a quirky sense of humor. People sometimes get offended because they don't realize that she's not laughing at them, she's laughing at life. She is very friendly, but hesitant to trust people because she grew up seeing the worst in people. **Listener**: (The Nightstalker) pope@physics.su.oz.au There is Listener, who is a bard. He plays upon request, a flute, in which words can be understood, and a lute. He uses these mainly, but can play all manner of instruments. The flute plays soothing music, and calms all violent action in the bar, including FLAME WARS, (which are not allowed anyway). If this does not work, Rowan can throw most out with ease, and has a rather nice sword that he uses well. Listener is a bar feature. **(Rowan) Littlefair (and family)**: (The Nightstalker) pope@physics.su.oz.au The bar is called the Dragons Inn. The owner is one Rowan Littlefair. He is a large burly man, an ex adventurer, who runs the place with his wife Mary and young son Bob, who is in his early teens. It is claimed that he had some part in the downfall of a dragon, and keeps some small trophies from the body, but this is not confirmed. He will serve just about anything that is not too disgusting in nature, and has a well stocked bar. Mary cooks, and cooks well. Bob will listen to ANY tale told him of the wide world. These characters are open for use, but their past histories are to be written by the founder of the group (me). They will not leave the establishment. ** Little Rat **: (The Dreamer) asg102@psuvm.psu.edu 'Rat is a street kid from Generica's Low City. She is 9 years old, standing at 3' tall and weighing about 40 pounds. Her light brown hair is long and usually tangled. Her clothing most resembles a jumble of mismatched rags. She is intelligent, although completely lacking in education. She is strong willed, energetic, and curious. She doesn't trust people easily due to a long history of physical and mental abuse. When she does befriend someone, she does so completely. Above all, she is a survivor, able to live on her own if necessary. Currently she is living in the 'kan lighthouse with Kev, 'Raelf, and ar'Elya. When she is written correctly, her speech will be noticeable because of it's heavy slang content. This is a sample of something she would say: "Hey Kev, look dere. Dat's da Gutt Man dat I telled you 'bout las' night. He messed in da nog more dan a mumbly old beggar. If he gets ya, he's gonna rip open your gutts an' dance with dem on his head." **(Father) Lucas Murphy**: (Clinton Richard Wolf) wolf@cheshire.oxy.edu Lucas Murphy is 5'9", with brown hair, brown eyes, and an average build. He wears a drab brown robe and sandals, and a carved wooden rabbit on a thong around his neck (his holy symbol). He carries a shoddy-looking wooden staff (which is actually a Staff of Withering, with some other neat stuff as well) and is generally gloomy and depressed. **Luthor Anside**: (The Dreamer) asg102@psuvm.psu.edu Luthor is the last person of the old adventuring group "the Children of the Blue Star". He is a 5'6" 150 year old Half Elf with jet black hair, light blue eyes, and golden skin. He weighs about 130 lbs and looks like he could handle himself in a fight. The most remarkable feature is his movement. When walking, he seems to glide. This is enhanced by his black clothes and BLACK cape which blends into the shadows making his outline indistinct. As far as an occupation goes, he calls himself a "Shadowmaker". **Maleiu**: (Alfvaen) aaron@amisk.cs.ualberta.ca Maleiu is a hunter and warrior from the Dark Continent. His skin is dark brown verging to black, and his hair is normally long and straight, worn in a warrior's braid; although it has been recently cut short, it is starting to grow back. He is 6'3" and exceedingly muscular. (18/something strength, D&D terms.) He left his home village after being essentially exiled by the chief, and has been wandering the world ever since. He is a companion of Mistletoe(whom he loves), Bronwen, and Ornigan. He speaks common, his tribal tongue, Dark common (the common tongue of the Dark Continent), and a dialect of lizardman. **(Bashar) Mardan**: (Todd McCall) DToddM@aol.com A young man, perhaps 20 years old, with jet black hair and grey eyes, which constantly scan his surroundings. He has the stance of a trained warrior. His attire depends on what he is doing. If adventuring/on-active-duty, he wears military fatigue style clothing over leather armor. The fatigues are black, with a red heraldric hawk on the left chest pocket location. A black traveling cloak billows behind him in the wind, and a longsword with a silver filigreed hilt hangs in a scabbard at his side. He wears a leather helm with the same hawk insignia. In other situations he wears grey military fatigues with the hawk insignia still in the left chest pocket location. Unless expecting violence or if local customs permit the wearing of a blade, he will not wear the longsword. In place of the helm is a black beret. **Mathew Gabriel Dawnstrider**: (Joe Carl) jcarl@jabba.harris.ess.com Gender: Male Species: Human Mathew Dawnstrider is a 24 year old young man. He's got long flowing black hair down to the middle of his broad shoulder blades. He's got a charming innocent smile that shows perfect teeth. He has deep chocolate colored eyes. Clean shaven and a dimple in his chin. He has a long face with strong cheek bones. He looks like a body builder with great tone. He's been raised on the farm, and has innocent ideals. He's not worldly, but is wise. He's got a very sharp mind, and healthy as a horse. He's good with horses, and tracks okay (he makes mistakes). He has helped out the local Blacksmith for a while and can shoe a horse. He's fast with thrown daggers and great with a long sword. He uses a shield to parry alot. He will wear chain mail as other armor is too expensive for him to purchase. He will make a mistake once (I want to use this for humor purposes), but not twice. He's a little too honest, believing people try to understand and not twist things. He'll start out with very high ideals, but will change as the *real* world is revealed to him. He's not a great warrior yet, and is looking for friends as he is alone in the world now as his father was slain by the Ga thread by way of a malicious magic. He was sent away as a very young man to Paladin Training in the name of Tyr. There was a plague that killed his mother and two younger brothers. His father was left in a weakened state so he left school before his training was complete so he could return to help his father recover fully. He behaves like the captain of a football team, without being stuck up. He's not a leader of men yet and seeks to better his skills by training with others. He's very impressionable at this stage in his life too. He's not above peer pressure if it's subtlely done. He want to become a full paladin someday but events may not take him in that direction **Medor**: (Chris Steiner) cj841@cleveland.Freenet.Edu Medor is a standard night lizard (see Beastiary) who was left in the Dragon's Inn by Artimian Yauntirr of Elturel. Medor liked the feel of the Inn better than he did Artimian so he just hung around for a while. Recently, tho' he has regained his interest in being a familiar and has attached himself to Kloote. **Melandra Flametree**: mcssenct@uk.ac.dct.vaxd or mcssenct@uk.ac.dct or mcssenct@uk.ac.dundee-tech or mcssenct@vaxd.dct.ac.uk or ... Born in the Elven community of Vyalia, bordering the Grand Duchy of Karameikos. Daughter of the leader of the ruling clan and seen as royalty by the neighbouring humans. Due to inbreeding within the ruling clan, hereditary madness had popped up causing the elves to elect a council to control their affairs. Melandra is one of the few cases of hereditary insanity now found in the Flametree Clan. She cannot stand the boredom ensuing from a natural elven lifestyle and thus has had to adopt a particularly hedonistic attitude to keep herself occupied and sane. She dresses in varied attire depending upon the time of year and her lack of sanity. Usually ( if not in battle) it consists of Brown leather riding Boots, accompanied by green breaches and a dark green jerkin. She has a mottled brown cloak which she sometimes uses to disguise herself. Most of the time she will be wearing a blood Red blouse with bright Yellow flames scattered over it, which is a facsimile of the painting of her armour. Over her years away from her homeland she has developed into a fairly accomplished worker of magic but still hurries onward as it gives her something to use up the downtime. Thus when she isnt sleeping, she's practicing or drinking herself into a stupor, or finding some amiable company for the day and preferably night. However, she still has a strong belief in her elven heritage and will rarely question the motives of one of her kindred race. **Melastirth**: (D.L. Postma) u9314271@muss.CIS.McMaster.CA (Melastirth is a maile Jungle Elf.) Physical Appearance: Melastirth looks like a typical elf. He has long black hair, tyed back in a pony tail. He prefers to wear only the basics of clothing and will almost always do so when in the wilderness. He carries with him seemingly archaic weapons (actually weapons given to him through his magic) and any other basic tools or supplies, which is very little, since his magic supplies most of his needs. Friends: He will befriend anyone who shows kindness and respect to nature and is slightly inclined to trust users of magic except those who practice necromancy or other imprisoning or cruel forms of magic. He is inclined to look for the good in people first, and will therefore consider a stranger more of a friend than anything else, until proven otherwise. He currently knows nobody in this setting, except one person. Foes: Anyone who harms anything good, or who hurts, or damages nature, is instantly considered evil. If this is done unintentionally, the reaction will be less strong. Killing for food, etc. is permissable, although Melastirth will _not_ do something like that himself. The only reason he has to kill something, is if its existence would (in his eyes) cause damage to nature (generally includes people). Habits: All actions exhibit total communion with the environment. He will never willingly damage or pollute nature if it can be helped. Mannerisms: Friendliness and openness to even total strangers (excepting evil or "bad" people). Motives: Protect Nature at all cost and promote its continuity and advancement. Disposition: Very trusting, friendly, outgoing, _except_ to "bad" things/people. Very noble to his cause, so to speak. History: Melastirth comes from a strange race of elves, actually from another dimension. These "jungle" elves lived in total communion/harmony/ symbiosis with their entire planet. When a race of inter-dimensional raiders came, seeking to conquer this dimension, the jungle elves fought back fiercely, but eventually lost the battle. However, several groups of elves were scattered in different dimensions in order that the race survive, spread the truth of Nature, and perhaps one day return to their planet. Melastirth is relatively young and has no outstanding history to himself, other than his complete dedication to Nature. He was trained in the art of Biomancy at a young age and learned quickly, bringing himself to his current knowledge of Nature. Which also caused him to fight against the evil which brought him here. **Miif'toran**: (Simon Turner) SLTUR3@mfs01.cc.monash.edu.au Miif'toran is a 6'3" tall warrior. He is, by trade, an expensive mercenary, and well worth any cost. He has no knowledge of his birth, only that he is an orphan. Handsome enough, he is no pretty boy, with one eye covered by a black patch, a scar running from the top of his left eye, under the patch, to emerge underneath and down his cheek. His weapon of choice, though he usually carries a virtual armoury with him, is his halberd. This halberd was enchanted in lieu of payment on a long and hazardous journey for a wizard. It can never be lost, no matter where he leaves it, it will always manage to turn up again somehow. An expert wielding halberd, sword and dagger, Miif is not particularly adept at the missile weapon and has no inclination towards sorcery at all. Brutally honest, he is a good adventurer, and will find his own danger if none will hire him. **Mistletoe**: (Alfvaen) aaron@amisk.cs.ualberta.ca Mistletoe was born the only child, which is not unusual in grey elven families, but her parents had several siblings, which is unusual. So, by the custom of her culture, she was given ten names. Mistletoe is the one she usually goes by [ADMIN: I'll give you the rest of them once I find her old character sheet...] but at an early age she began to rebel and never introduces herself by the same name twice--making up names for herself if necessary. She is insatiably curious, and once she gets past a little initial shyness, she will ask you questions until your ears fall off. It is perhaps this curiosity that lead her down the path of witchcraft. She is quite skilled with herbs and subtle magics of her sex. She is also in love with Maleiu. She is about 4'3", and has long silver, almost platinum, hair, and a ready smile. **Moria RuneCaster**: (Master Hawk) fannicm@WKUVX1 Moria RuneCaster is a very beautiful female dark elf of moderate height and slim build. She can be commonly seen to be wearing a headband, a pair of high, soft black boots (with two dark grey dagger hilts protruding) over a pair of brown leather breeches, a tight-fitting shirt made of fine silk with red runes embroidered on the hems of the sleeves, and bandages covering her hands and lower arms. Normally she wears a thick brown, hooded cloak over these clothes hiding them from view, but from time to time she does remove the cloak. Her large blue-silver eyes are very responsive to her emotions and complement her long, silver hair very well. Moria is a powerful psychic who just recently came into control of her powers and still is reluctant to use them for anything other than defense. She is also an extremely powerful adept of greater rune magic, perhaps the strongest alive from her world. The power of this type of magic, while limited offensively, is practically unriveled in shielding, conjuration, alteration, and divination. She is extremely jumpy, and tends to react poorly to situations which surprise her, often combining psionic attacks with reflexive magical 'attacks', often doing strange things like encasing her opponents in constricting spheres of force, or more drastic if she detects malice, turning their blood to acid or something similar. She is quite friendly, but is timid about making new friends or attempting to due to the way drow are viewed by most people. She tends to be overly trusting, oddly enough, due to the way she has been treated. If she is approached in kindness and with no guile she will be predisposed to that person. It should also be known that she has no compassion for those who would do her harm with malice in their hearts. **Mortis**: (Shaun Conrardy) conrardyse95@cs36-34.usafa.af.mil Mortis was born a long time ago in the distant land of Tinsara. He was a warrior and a scholar during his 'mortal' life. While he was still a young man, Mortis was murdered by an assassin for reasons unknown. After his death, mysterious events took place, and some time later he awoke as a living skeleton in a strange forest, in a strange land. Since that time he has been honing his skills as a warrior, though he seldom carries weapons, and has begun to learn the art of magic. In appearance, he is a human skeleton, about 6 feet tall. Usually, he wears typical adventuring garb, including leather armor. He always wears gloves and his hood is always pulled up, partially to shield him from the light and partially to conceal his true appearance from the living. Most living things fear him because of his state of undeath, so it is a rare occasion when he has a travelling companion. He currently searches for a purpose to his 'life', though sometimes he wonders why he was killed, and how he came to be a living skeleton; it is at these times he yearns for answers. Due to Shaun's other commitments, Mortis is available for general use. **Nightstalker**: (The Nightstalker) pope@physics.su.oz.au The Nightstalker is a tallish human-like creature (assumed human), who wears dark robes, including a scarf which covers his face. His eyes are blue and piercing. Not much can be said about The Nightstalker which is not mere speculation. It is assumed that he is a wizard of some sort, and can change his form, cast various agressive spells such a chain lightning and flame strike, and exercise various forms of illusion and mind control. He wields a sword known as Dragon's Breath, which is a flame-tongue with various properties. The Nightstalker is a staunch aggressor against evil, particularly undead and demonkind. His background and nature remain a mystery. **Nirvan**: (Alfvaen) aaron@amisk.cs.ualberta.ca Nirvan is about sixteen, average height for his age but slightly scrawny. He has brown hair and grey eyes. He's ubiquitous in Low City; he's made his living for years by gathering information and selling it, and thereby making himself indispensible. He's also learned not to get on the wrong side of the wrong people. He has very acute sight and hearing, perhaps indicative of some nonhuman blood in his ancestry, and is also very stealthy, a result of lifelong practice. Everyone in Low City knows him, and if you ask about him, he'll find out. **Ornigan**: (Alfvaen) aaron@amisk.cs.ualberta.ca Ornigan is the third son of Thoric, Count of Maybold on the northern edge of the Great Heath. His father named him after a line of previous Counts of Maybold, since Thoric himself took the title by participating in a coup and marrying the previous Count's daughter. Unfortunately, Ornigan's namesake, Count Ornigan IV of Maybold, was a psychotic mage whose laboratories are still hidden somewhere in Castle Maybold. Ornigan IV's name is well-known among many mages, particular in the Great Heath, and Ornigan has from time to time encountered problems as a result. He is of slight build, garbed all in black, bearing no insignia, although he does carry the seal of Maybold to present if necessary. He has steel grey eyes, and is handsome in an almost feminine way. His hair is black but flecked with grey and white. He is generally engaging, eager to talk and eager to know. He has a crooked smile that looks slightly wicked. Ornigan is a gifted and entertaining conversationalist. He shows interest in learning, but in the offhand, unconcerned way of a young aristocrat with many passing fancies. He will never introduce himself as a magician. (In fact, he learnt his magic from Castle Maybold's Librarian, and only his sister knows he is a mage.) He prefers to be taken as an explorer, amateur archaeologist and treasure-hunter, but is usually more vague than that about his activities in conversation. He will generally introduce himself as a traveler, and discuss where he is going more vividly than what he is up to. He is skilled at intrigue, and rarely spares much consideration for good or evil in such matters, if he can get what he wants. **Palandun the Bismanian**: (Alan Smith) arsmith@lamar.colostate.edu (corrupted to Paladin sometimes) Palandun is from the volcanic Island chain of Bismania, where he studied nature and rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Bismanian I corps, as close as comes to an elite force as they have. He saw combat twice, once in the Third Orc War, as a Private and medic of his team, the second time after his promotion in the fourth Orc war. He was decorated five times. Palandun still carries around much of his soldier's gear, especially his digging tools and his sword, Gynsoo. Palandun is in Generica to study the differences in the rats from the richer to the poorer sections of town. He is a guest student at the University, where he has been roped into teaching Biology for Magicians lab. Palandun is a basically good person, willing to help a perfect stranger in distress without hope of reward, but unwilling to force anyone to change themselves. His combat skills are pretty decent, enhanced by the properties of his sword, which include becoming magically light when held by him, (and magically heavy when held by someone else) and the ability to tell whether what/who it strikes is friend or enemy, and alter it's edge accordingly. **Pare the Red**: (Christian Buhl) uhs@vsl.ist.ucf.edu Pare the Red is a knight of the order Falloway. He fought the Paladin Boston during a tournament with the order of Cur's, the order to which Boston formerly belonged. Pare is a highly respected and honorable knight, who after his close defeat by Boston, rose to become one of the most powerful of the Falloway knights, and helped to establish Falloway as one of the primary orders of the Order of Knights. Boston and Pare became close friends after the tournament, and currently remain in contact. **Radan Tsran**: (Timothy Vaughan) vaughan8670@iscsvax.uni.edu Dressed in plain clothes most of the time, Radan is an artist. He seems to have more behind those innocent eyes of his, though. One could say he has a "Healthy" glow to his aura and himself. A presence of good surrounds Radan, and he knows that he is different than other people; among the people in the Dragon's Inn, he finds that he "fits in" better. Radan was given the gift of healing at a very young age, and now he is discovering its uses; throughout his travels he has been using his gift to give others a second chance that they would otherwise never have. Somehow that just feels right to Radan. Personality-wise, Radan will be kind and gentle to those who need it, and will never instigate a fight unless backed into a corner. He is cheerful and always willing to help out anyone who asks it of him. This may prove to hurt him in the future, but for now, he is willing to take that chance. **'Raelf**: (Stephen Hutchison) hutch@ibeam.jf.intel.com 'Raelf looks like the archetypic surfer-jock - about 5'8", tanned, muscular, clean-shaven, sunbleached hair raggedly cut at just-above-the-ears, and drifting into his eyes. He has very straight teeth, and the casual smile of someone with no responsibilities. He looks like a fighter but is very polite and deferential. He wears what looks like a high-tech surfer's wetsuit half the time, otherwise wearing a pair of black cotton jams threaded with complex runes in bright colors; he always has a bandolier and what looks like one of those crystal amulets worn by new agers and SF fans. He often has a surf board or a short board that looks like a shield, wooden and nicely finished, with an abstract design on one side and runes on the other. 'Raelf is one of an extremely alien race called the 'kan, who live in a place rather far away from anything. 'Raelf's family are elementalists, with 'Raelf's specialty being the five "standard" elements of Fire, Water, Air, Earth, and "Void". He is registered as a Journeyman-Master in the magical specialty of Artificer, and is a graduate of Traveller's College. **Raphael**: (Phyllis Rostykus) li@data-io.com Originally created as 'R' by Mar as part of an avatar which contained a third of Mar of the Reaver's powers for the purpose of entrapping and subverting the 'kani Traveler 'Raelf. After a battle-exchange of gifts with 'Raelf's various elemental selves, R gained self-determination and a new view of life and existance along with a slew of 'Raelf's memories. When Joy was injured, R turned away from Mar, took the name of Healer (Raphael) in order to heal her wounds and is presently incarnated as a Servant of the Keeper of the Beacon of Hope. He's in love with Joy. **Rathan Barbar**: (Morning Reaper) swv3752@RITVAX.ISC.RIT.EDU Rathan is an Amberite shapeshifter. Like most other such shapeshifters, he has three true forms. His human form is 6'1 male with a light but muscular build, sandy blonde hair, and green eyes. His chaos or demonic form resemble a cross between a thri-kreen and a bionoid. It is a large insectoid standing 7'6 with four arms with elbow spikes, two powerful jumping legs with large claws, multi-faceted red eyes, a head spike, mandibles, and wings. His elemental form is that of a swamp elemental. When Rathan shapeshifts into another form he prefers plant or lycanthrope forms. When necessary he can shape shift into several undead and demonic forms. These are the forms he has had the most practice with as he grew up in a shadow similar to Ravenloft. In addition to his shapeshifting ability, Rathan knows psionics (except telepathy), and has walked both the Pattern and Logrus. **Ray du Monde**: (Raimondas Lencevicius) raimisl@cs.ucsb.edu Ray du Monde is a young human. He's a Zen monk and is traveling as he says himself 'not seeking Enlightenment, not running from it'. He helps other people in their quests, but never goes on a quest himself. He does not seek wealth, position or adventure. Sometimes you can find his company dull when he sits in silence and meditates, but sometimes he can tell an interesting story worth all the dull days. Though Ray hasn't found Enlightenment yet, but he can see into true nature of things, so all the magic can affect him only if he wishes so. He can use magic only in the form of magical things. Ray is 6 feet tall, his head is cleanly shaved, his eyes are grey. He's dressed in loose monks robes and usually carry only a backpack and a staff. He never carries any weapon, but can use anything as a weapon in a fight. **Sir Rayon and Princess Lycra of Underhaven**: (Alan Smith) arsmith@lamar.colostate.edu Sir Rayon was a graduate of St. Cuthbert's academy in Generica when he went east over bottleneck pass into the Great Heath to see if he could do some good. He eventually found his way to the kingdom of Underhaven, and there went on a few adventures for the King. Needless to say, he spent a lot of time in the castle, and eventually fell in love with the King's daughter, Princess Lycra. On finding out that they wanted to get married, the king promptly said "No. My daughter will marry a prince." The two of them set off together to figure out how to get around her father's dictate. **Rollik**: (Steven Cavanagh) scavanag@neumann.une.oz.au Rollik is a somewhat more than archetypal Swashbuckler. He just LOVES a good dramatic entrance, and swings off things with a carefree laugh whenever possible. He wears beautifully embroidered, loose- fitting clothing (white shirt and black breeches), has a golden earring in his LEFT ear, a thin moustache that adds to his dashing character, and wears a black, robin-hood style cap with a deep red plume. He is about six feet tall, and wields a rapier (rumoured to be magical) in his right hand and a parrying dagger in his left. On his right hand he wears a white glove for slapping enemies in the face when challenging them to mortal combat (though rumours connect this to his style of dancing). Companion of Timelord. **...sage**: (Pete Calvert) PCALVERT@ECONOMICS.ADELAIDE.EDU.AU ...sage is the librarian in charge of ancient and magical texts in Generica's Great Library. He is also blind, albino and a Drow. Found as a youth by the library staff, he studied magic long and hard and was eventually able to cast a permanent true-seeing on himself. He has no idea of his past history and is in search of any information that might unlock the cloud in his mind. He is now an archmage who specialized in defensive and divining spells, and has acquired some other strange abilities from adventuring. *more may be revealed later* **Serene Uhtsong**: (Laurie F. Alden) alden@coos.dartmouth.edu Serene Uhtsong is the Barmaid of Dragon's Inn. She is 4'11", has grey eyes, long auburn hair in a ponytail, and is very graceful and quick. She likes guessing what people need to drink before they order it - and has a pretty good hit ratio. She is also a Fog Dancer and an adventurer whose primary skills are in aikido. Mista is Serene's infant daughter. She is black-haired, grey-eyed, and very good at sleeping. This very happy baby spends most of her day snuggled in a sling across her mother's chest. Her godfathers are Luthor Anside and the Nightstalker. **Shade**: (Morgan "the Dreamer" Broman) mabr@sweden.hp.com 6'1" tall. Dark brown hair. Eyes grey to green depending on his mood. Slightly pointed ears. Carries a silver earring w. a small dragon's claw gripping a ruby in his right ear. Dressed in green shirt, black trousers and black boots. Black leather wristguards and wide black leather belt. Armed w. a bastard sword and a long fighting dagger. Slim build but well muscled. Moves like a fighter. Has been rumored to use magic, but you know about rumours....!? According to rumours he appeared after a terrible thunderstorm...!? **Sharkey**: (Lord Stahl) mstahl@slate.Mines.Colorado.EDU A tall, grizzled veteran of the sea. His left leg ends just below the knee. He walks with the aid of a peg leg and a shortened gaff-hook, which he uses for a staff (and a weapon). His hair, once blond, is the color of bleached bone and his eyes are a bright blue. **Splunk**: (Christopher M. Steiner) csteiner@oucsace.cs.ohiou.edu NPC Bartender of the Drift Inn, husband to Ghurney, and probably the only halfling bartender to be seen in a few month's travel. He's about 2'11" and 63 lbs. with dark hair and a greyish-black complexion that has more to do with the smoke in the inn than anything else. The bar is actually set to human height, as this is the height of most of his customers, so he keeps several boxes behind the bar to step upon when taking orders, serving drinks, etc. Try to keep him from sounding too much like Tatoo... **The Storyteller**: (Christian Buhl) uhs@vsl.ist.ucf.edu The Storyteller is the character who is currently relating Boston's story to A'arden the storyteller. He appears of an extremely calm and detached disposition. He wears a hooded robe with the hood pushed back to reveal the face of a man or elf in his late twenties. Little is known about his background or his relation to Boston, whom he seems to know a great deal about. **Taliesin**: (Daniel Howell, aka Grey Brother) Age: 21 Sex: Male Class: Wizard; Major in Flame, minor in Summoning, dabbler in Healing. Origin: Darklords (tm), GBR LRP group. Nation: Cymru (pron. Come-rie) - aka Wales. Alignment: orig. "Lawful Good", now Neutral. Notes: Member of DragonLords, a group of his home universe dedicated to the resurrection of Dragons there. (Intent to use for good purposes) Was SO of "Bob", aka Xanthia, a female member of DragonLords. She was lost, along with the rest of the Lords and their associates, when a demon called Arkal managed to summon his Master, who started to tear their world apart. A fellow wizard called Vespers was able to open various dimensional gates, and Tal was cast into the wrong one. He believes Xanthia dead, and has now developed something of a deathwish. This is not helped by the belief drummed into him by the matriarchal rulers of his country that women are the dominant sex; as a result, in any party with a female in it, he will act as something of a slave to that female. If rejected, he will attempt to "prove" himself a good servant, assuming that he has done something wrong in that female's eyes. This attitude was temporarily dispelled during his relationship with Xanthia, and will be again if he meets her. **Tarkyn**: (Barry Prismall) s924739@minyos.xx.rmit.oz.au Garbed in forest green with two rune swords at his side, Tarkyn stands at around the six foot mark. Skilled as both a tracker and fighter, he has recently discovered a talent he thought lost. Awakened as he dealt the killing blow to Raoh the Conqueror is an adeptness to draw power from the source. That being the power that flows through all that is living and that can be melded to the uses of its wielder...others call it magic. Across his back is a fine bow given to him by his father. Around his waist are numerous pouches containing rare herbs used in healing. Inexperienced as he is, he is one not to run when others are in trouble and can be trusted. Tarkyn values his honor more than his life. A black cloak flows across his black, clasped with a finely crafted silver rose. When looked upon his eyes, a cold grey, seem to hold no feeling, he is a man who tends to keep to himself. To any who break though these barriers, he is a friend for life. ***Tav Safthandor (Tav of Maray)***: (Susan Kretschmer) sxk29@po.CWRU.Edu Tav Safthandor is a human mage who encountered a group of adventurers from Generica during an accidental visit to hell. He generally doesn't mention his last name if he can avoid it, because his father, Sel Safthandor, was a notoriously evil magician responsible for the near-destruction of Tav's people. He comes from a little village called Maray, which is populated only by humans, and is located in a very rural backwater of Nexus. Tav is 18 years old right now, although if you ask him he'll say he's at least 25. It's pathetically apparent that this is a lie. He's very ordinary in appearance, maybe 5'5" in height, and skinny, with dark brown hair that falls to just above his shoulders. He's grown up with everyone resenting him and distrusting him, and as a result he's sort of depressed. He's rather cynical and has a definite self-esteem problem. He was apprenticed to a wizard in Maray, Psai, known as the Russet Mage, from the time he was 14 until he left Maray by way of hell. His skills, like his infamous father's, are in elemental magic. He works with fire, light, wind, and rain, and on a really good day possibly lightning or a very small earthquake. Psai had him scrub a lot of floors but didn't teach him much magic, so he's currently very untrained. His magic can be impressive on occasion, but his abilities are erratic and his accuracy is not terribly good. He cannot read minds, make people invisible, work illusion, etc., he's just an elementalist. **Teonyl**: (Alfvaen) aaron@amisk.cs.ualberta.ca Teonyl is half-elven, slight in figure but full of wiry strength. She is used to being underestimated, but tries not to make the same mistake with others. She is somewhat toughened by growing up in a culture where the attitude towards elves grew increasingly unfriendly during her childhood, and where her home village was burned by elf-haters, and her human father killed. Until recently, she was an agent with the Florians, a secret society dedicated to protecting the interests of elves on her world, Mundal. Disgust with the slights given her and her sister because of their human blood led her to leave, thus earning her the enmity of the Florians on her world. She is also looking for her sister Eogyd and Eogyd's human husband Dispite, who had fled Mundal months earlier. Currently the trail has led her to Nexus, and may lead her further. She is being circumspect, afraid the Florians may still be on her trail, but refuses to take caution to the point of paranoia. Her skills are divided between battle, magic, and thievery--in her words, "Specialization is for insects." **Thorr-kan, the White Minotaur**: (Matt Cutter) mcutter@vax2.gac.edu Thorr-kan is a Krynn minotaur. He stands a hefty 7'6" and is covered with a light silver fur. Horns sweep up, standing high and proud above his head. His main weapon is his halberd, but he has a longsword strapped to his back. Several daggers are strapped to his belt. He wears banded leather armor and a chainlink kilt. On his back is a medium backpack that he is never without. Thorr-kan is a master warrior. He once stood as a champion to his race. But treachery forced him into exile. He has wandered much since then, serving his god, Kiri-Jolith. The White Minotaur is an honorable friend and an implacable enemy. His cunning, skill, and fierceness enabled him to forge a nation. These same qualities help him survive in places normal mortals were not meant to tread. His constant companion is a small, greenish-brown reptile. Gleep is a pseudo dragon. He is somewhat exciteable, but usually has his large friend to cover for him. Gleep will not leave Thorr-kan for anything short of death. The minotaur will do the same for Gleep. **Timelord**: (Christian Girard) cgirard@metz.une.edu.au Timelord is male, just over six foot tall, with brown eyes and brown hair that is cut short front and sides, but long and braided at the back. He is well-muscled. Master of armed and unarmed combat, he is armed with katana and wakizashi. His armour is a leather/chain/leather for upper torso, with soft leather breeches specially made for flexablility. Shoes are black leather, as is the rest of his clothing. The boots and breeches have fine silver tracings down the sides. Also has a voluminous black cloak. Wears a single black leather gauntlet on right hand. Companion of Rollik, the Swashbuckler. **Tomonobu Fujiwara**: (Bret R. Rudnick) rudnick@cfatrw.harvard.edu Tomonobu Fujiwara is a samurai from the early Edo period of Japanese history. He was made masterless (ronin) by the acts of an evil wizard whose treachery was responsible for the downfall of Tomonobu's clan. Tomonobu swore revenge, and set out to destroy the wizard. Just as he was closing in, the wizard "gated" to Generica and escaped. Tomonobu followed, but when he got to Generica, the wizard was nowhere to be found. Tomonobu hunts him still. Anything he does in Generica is done with this ultimate goal in mind. Tomonobu is a skilled warrior. As a ronin, his appearance is that of a wandering soldier. He wears plain traveling clothes over mesh armour. His swords were forged by a master craftsman, who used material from a meteor in their construction. This has given them mystic properties. Although he wouldn't admit it, he is very uneasy around magic. He prefers problems solved by wit or martial skills. He seems to run into difficulties with the undead as well. The legion of "shura" in Japan know his name well. His slate is clean in Generica, but probably not for long... **the Traveller**: (Dennis J. Nichols) dnichols@engr.latech.edu He carries a crossbow with silver engraved notches (number of kills??) , a peculiar looking staff, a bastard sword with gold and silver markings is slung at his side. He looks as if he could kill with a touch, and well he could. His face and hair are given to elven features, but his build tends toward a stout human, and has beard a dwarf would kill for. He carries the pouch of a mage. He is wearing ivory and black leather armour, as well as ivory and black gaunltets and boots. He looks as though he has ridden a thousand miles, and almost has. He claims no one place as home. **Trawm**: (The Dreamer) asg102@psuvm.psu.edu Trawm is a half-troll who runs the Spitting Cobra, an inn in the Low City. He doesn't mind being torn limb from limb and will buy a beer for anyone who can do it (he considers them a good fighter = good friend). He is very deformed due to two hundred years of being torn apart and pulling himself together. He is not sensitive to his looks and prizes his Troll Heritage. Trawm is either not educated OR he doesn't want people to think that he is educated. Because of this, his speech is crude: "Hey, I ain't gonna clean up dat mess Sugob. You is da laziest Orc I ever seen." ...and full of colorful Troll curses..."E'CHUTA!", "KAK-RUSP", "JOZ-KA", "Peace-Loving Bard", etc... He is usually in his bar taking care of things, but takes one day or so per week to cruise the Low City or have a good time somewhere, so you could meet him just about anywhere. However, Trawm has not left Generica for the past 150 years or so and has no desire to. Trawm's Motivations: 1. To get people to come to his inn. 2. To get people to fight in his inn. 3. To get into fights in his inn. 4. To run the Dragon's Inn out of business. 5. To break Listener's instruments. 6. To be a general nice guy a) He left scraps out for Little Rat from time to time when she lived in the vicinity of his inn b) He hates the people who try to control the Low City c) He will help out people who are sick/injured/etc... Trawm has recently been turned into a fully-active character and is participating in the [Kidnap] thread. For this reason, he will not be available for use unless given full permission by The Dreamer. **Trogon**: (Kermit the Bailey) jkbailey@mmm.com Trogon is colorful and not shy He is a human male, a shade under 2 meters tall (about 6'5") who has fine blond hair and blue eyes. He has fairly effeminate characteristics. He could disguise himself easily as a very tall woman. His favorite attire is tan breaches with either a red shirt or a copper colored chainmail tunic. He likes to wear a dark olive cape and a flamboyant matching hat with white and golden feathers. He has a high voice and speaks with a melodic lisping voice and has affected and swishy mannerisms. He can be quite melodramatic. His favored weapons are an epee and a whip. He shoots well with a bow, although he does not necessarily carry one. His favorite instrument is a mandolin, which he also does not go out of his way to carry. He also plays the harp and lyre. **Walter (the Ordinary)**: (Benjamin Gerber) b_gerber@oz.plymouth.edu Former assistant innkeeper turned adventurer. Walter was kicked out of his father's Inn because his father felt Walter "needed a change". Walter was generated in my mind. Though I do roleplay a lot, people tend to have characters with lots of real neat powers and that was not what I am looking for. Walter is...ordinary. He can swing a sword, he can talk, eat and breath, he cannot cast fireballs, bring damnation down from the heavens, pick pockets (very well) or get a date. He's about 22 years old, and is stuck on playing the part of an adventurer. **Winter:** ICSAD794@TREX.OSCS.MONTANA.EDU, or GDH6770@TREX.OSCS.MONTANA.EDU Winter does not know who Winter is. Suffering from acute amnesia brought about by a boating accident, Winter has lost all of his memory regarding his origins, parentage, or race. The only thing he recalls is falling from a great height into deep cold water and waking up some time later underneath the docks in Generica next to a very surly book. The book, Lex(icon) is the only item/creature that knows Winter's full past, since the two have been inseparable for many years, and delights in witholding the information from him. Lex is an arcane text filled with many spells and enchanted with the gift of life enabling him to talk and react with the mundane world. Winter's goal is primarily just to wrangle out who he is from Lex, and then burn the text in the nearest fire. Phys: about 6', eyes that occasionally shift color, (blue now) Hair: black streaked with silver and dotted with gold beads, waist length **Wonko The Sane**: hilanse@wkuvx1.bitnet I was but a child living in a small village named Stortiksmaal in what is now called Norway. I was a mere lad of fourteen and not at all happy with my role in the village, I was used as a gofer, and I hunted a bit, fished a bit, and did odd jobs 'round the village. Never got to go on pillaging raids, though. Made me angry. One day, as the men of the village were leaving I was, umm, lucky enough to , err, discover that one of the usual raiders had fallen ill from food poisoning. The village elders were in too much of a hurry, and not intellectual enough to investigate the cause of the food poisoning, not that the fact that I had killed the animal that had caused the sickness had anything at all to do with it, but , it may have. Anyway, I was the only alternate, and I joined the men on the long voyage to France(Then nameless, mostly), where as soon as we left the longboat to pillage and loot and return home, I tripped on a rock, busted my head open and lay unconscious for a day or two. I awoke to find my comrades departed, and wandered the area for a few days. As I was wandering I happened upon a rectangular structure, with indecipherable runes along the top, just above the doors. I snuck in, ducked into a corner and fell asleep amongst the Reader's Digest Condensed Books, Several language dictionaries, and a coloring book complete with a Crayola 64-Pack.(w/built in sharpener, It was these books and equipment which educated me for life later on). When I woke up this time, I stuffed as much of the booty as I could into a large pack I had found, In the process, a man in a coat and funny clothes with curly hair tried to attack me with a short metal demon (It looked sortof like an ugly shiny dog with wheels). I was ejected from the building forcefully into a land which I was totally unfamiliar with. I was in RyDIn(Red Dragon Inn to Qlinkers), and as I built a life there, I found my wanderlust setting in, and for two years have I journeyed seeking out somewhere to stay for good. I Might Have Found It. **Zebron Twilight**: (Jonathan Petersen) jcp@gandalf.rutgers.edu Zebron Twilight, the Silver Sword of Eilistraee; Male Drow, Mage/Thief Dressed in armor made from zebra leather, a cloak sits on his shoulders and twin silver longswords hang from his belt. The black sash and boots are offset by a fondness for silver jewelry, most notably the earring in the shape of a sword in his ear. A long mane of white hair is held in place by a silver circlet on his brow, and his emerald eyes reveal a warmth and kindness not found in many of his race. His raven familiar, Dusk, is often perched on his shoulder. A renegade drow, Zebron first turned to Tymora, goddess of luck to aid him in his travels on the surface. However, after a few misadventures, found peace in the worship of Eilistraee, the goddess of surface drow. Zebron was the first worshipper of the goddess in his world, and has been chosen as her 'champion' of sorts, a living example of surface drow. Mage, champion, and thief, Zebron has created an alternate identity of Jaq Spayde, a gentleman thief who steals from evil to right wrongs. Jaq always leaves his calling card, a Jack of Spades, behind at every robbery. His exploits have run him afoul of many a town guard, as well as the Black Eel, an evil master thief whose network of assassins has caught up to the dark elf many a time. Zebron is a quick friend, relying on his skill first, and magic later, to 'make his own luck'. He has travelled many lands, always preaching the tenets of Eilistraee and trying to change the opinions of those who would judge him for what he is, rather than who he is. **Zurgen**: (Alfvaen) aaron@amisk.cs.ualberta.ca Zurgen was born in the Duchy of Jarpil on the Great Heath. His mother was a witch named Rowena, and he did not know his father for many years. They lived near the village of Gagra, but were essentially outcasts. Upon Rowena's death, when Zurgen was sixteen, he found out that his father had been a mage named Vorkin. Vorkin's Tower was nearby, in an area mostly overrun by orcs. Zurgen set out to reclaim his heritage. Upon the way, he charmed an orc named Ugluk to serve as brawn and manservant, and eventually defeated the minor demon who had taken over his father's tower. He now has an amulet and a staff, which once belonged to this father; the amulet allows him to communicate with his father's spirit, which is slowly training him in the arts of magic; the staff has several capabilities, only a few of which he has yet learned. The tower itself has many minor magics put there by Vorkin for his own convenience. Zurgen has few social graces, and is somewhat amoral. He had no compunctions about revenging himself on villagers that had mistreated him in his youth, but he will also tend to welcome any traveller who braves the hospitality of the tower. He relies on Ugluk for many tasks for which he lacks the strength and/or inclination, and is prepared to renew the charm at any time.
