It has come to our attention that with the passage of time more and more people are discovering that they have data on media that they no longer have the equipment to read. As part of our efforts to preserve the history of the computer, (and to help pay the bills!) we offer the following data recovery and conversion services:
Punched Cards (80 Column IBM Cards)
We can read your old punched cards and transfer the data to more current media, and optionally convert the data to ASCII for direct input to newer systems.
| Setup Fee | $75.00 (per job) |
| Read/Verify | $ 0.05 (per card/pass) |
| Xfer to Customer FTP site | no charge |
| Xfer to Diskette | $ 5.00 (per diskette) |
| Xfer to CD-Rom | $ 20.00 (per CD) |
| Special Handling | $40.00 (per hour) |
Notes:
* With regard to setup charges, a "job" is considered to be one or more card decks received at once for processing. Multiple decks received together from a single customer for processing only incur one setup charge.
* Customer is responsible for cost of shipment of source media both ways
* If customer does not wish punched cards to be returned, they will be recycled
* Read and Verify of cards each count as a separate pass
* Special Handling charge is incurred for damaged cards or cards with 'out of band' data (column 0 or 81) and is computed against additional time required for processing or manual intervention
* Recovered data is retained for a maximum of seven days past the (estimated) date of delivery to the customer to insure against loss in transit. Data sets delivered to the customer should be verified as complete and readable as soon as possible following receipt to avoid additional costs should replacement of delivered data be required.
Special Note:
While we make all reasonable efforts to ensure that the equipment used for data recovery services provides accurate reads of all media offered, please keep in mind that this is very old equipment, and that this is a preservation effort and not a production environment. This is why we recommend a verification pass on any media submitted for processing. If errors are found on a verification pass, no additional charges will be incurred for additional passes on the affected data sets needed to insure correct data recovery except in cases of severe pre-existing damage to the media.
Data Recovery for Historical and Preservation purposes
Special consideration may be given for requests for data recovery for historical and preservational computer related purposes (i.e. museums and/or collections, code preservation from classic systems, etc.). If you believe that you have a request that would fall into this catagory, please contact us for details and review of requests.

If you have a damaged or disfunctional computer or peripheral of similar vintage to what is seen here, and would like to return it to working condition, we can help!
We can provide repair and restoration services for many varietys of equipment in the 1965 to 1985 range, and earlier in many cases. (We do most all of our own work on the equipment in the collection) This can include metalworking and fabrication or replacement parts and panels
If you need repair or restoration on classic computer systems, drop up a note. We can probably help you! (we did it for Microsoft!)
(also see the "Items/Objects Available" page for repair parts for classic systems)
