My collection of computers and associated equipment that I
have built, known, worked with, admired, repaired, or saved from a fate worse
than the scrap heap.

The Computer
Garage supports:

What's New in and around the
Computer Garage
- 19-Nov-2000 -- The Computer Garage is featured on the CBC programme
(Canadian don't you know) "Undercurrents". The program should be
running on the Satellite/Cable channel 'TRIO' sometime soon.
- 11-Oct-2000 -- Pictures from Vintage Computer Festival 4.0 are now
available from the 'Events and Appearances' page
along with new pictures on a number of other pages as well.
- 19-Sep-2000 -- Preparations for VCF 4 are well underway, and so a number of
new pictures on various pages of The Computer Garage Virtual Museum.
- 31-Aug-2000 -- Some days you just get the most interesting emails... And
this one resulted in a crew from the Canadian Broadcasting Company dropping by
the Garage for a tour. While the resulting segment will only run on Canadian
TV, the crew did indicate that it would probably be available on the 'TRIO'
channel on U.S. satellite and cable systems.
- 20-Aug-2000 -- Some new additions to the Garage collection... One that we
have been seeking for some time, and (yet another) that fits, but will no doubt
cause confusion for some. Remember... Not all computers look like
computers!
- 15-Apr-2000 -- Pictures from our yearly appearance at the Fir Grove
Elementary School Science Fair are now available from the 'Events and Appearances' page.
- 26-Mar-2000 -- Pictures from Vintage Computer Festival 3.0 are now
available from the 'Events and Appearances' page.
Better late than never, eh?
- 20-Feb-2000 -- A number of new pictures on various pages of The Computer
Garage Virtual Museum and pictures from this years National Engineers Week
presentations at some local schools on the 'Events and
Appearances' page.
- 29-Jan-2000 -- Another day shuffling equipment around in the warehouse, and
so a number of new pictures on various pages of The Computer Garage Virtual
Museum.
- 17-Jan-2000 -- Scanned images of the OAE OP-80 Paper Tape Reader Manual are
now available. Link from the OP-80 entry in the I/O
Devices page of The Computer Garage Virtual Museum.
- 09-Jan-2000 -- More new pictures on various pages...
- 28-Dec-1999 -- After a bit of a break, some new pictures on various
pages...
- 14-Sept-1999 -- Dare you peer into the inner workings of The Computer
Garage? Check the 'Events and Appearances' page...
- 05-Sept-1999 -- A number of new pictures scattered about the 'Boards, Cards, and Components' page...
- 28-Aug-1999 -- New pictures scattered about the site...
- 15-Aug-1999 -- New additions to the collection and new pictures...
- 07-July-1999 -- New pictures, and some new pages! But as to just where? We
will leave that as a exercise for the reader...
- 23-June-1999 -- Had an interview with ComputerWorld magazine today for the
"Flashback" column on my recollections of the early (first) computer
stores. (Helped no doubt by the fact that I worked at one) Look for my musings
in the column on 12-July!
- 23-June-1999 -- New pictures in "The Computer
Garage Virtual Museum" section in various catagories.
- 11-May-1999 -- The "Residents of the Computer Garage" section has
been renamed to "The Computer Garage Virtual Museum" which seems a
more appropriate description of what it really is.
- 15-Feb-1999 -- The "Computers in the
media" page debuts, and new images are added to the 'Historical Items' and 'Advertising Collateral, Data Sheets, and
Catalogs' pages.
- 31-Jan-1999 -- Images from the 7th West Coast Computer Faire are added to
the "Views from Computing's Past" page.
- 15-Jan-1999 -- Images from the 8th West Coast Computer Faire are added to
the "Views from Computing's Past" page.
- 09-Jan-1999 -- Some 'Behind the Scenes' pictures from the CNET TV segment
featuring the second Vintage Computer Festival and The Computer Garage are
added to the "Recent Events and
Appearances" page.
- 03-Jan-1999 -- The Computer Garage (museum) logs its 20,000th virtual
visitor!
(hmm... things are picking up. A little less than a year to get from 10k to
20k. Anyone want to guess how long it took CBBS/NW to log 20,000 calls?)
- 31-Dec-1998 -- The "Views from Computing's
Past" page debuts. This page links to views of historic systems and
equipment which do not reside in The Computer Garage.
- 04-Nov-1998 -- Pictures from the 2nd annual Vintage Computer Festival are
now available from the "Recent Events and
Appearances" page. (pictures from the 1st VCF are there as well)
- 25-Jan-1998 -- The Computer Garage (museum) logs its 10,000th virtual
visitor!
(hmm... just a couple of days past 2 years. Anyone want to guess how long it
took CBBS/NW to log 10,000 calls?)
- 11-Dec-1997 -- Notice: With the official withdrawl of the corporate
participant in the planned computer historical retrospective exhibit that was
to be presented by The Computer Garage, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI)
appears to have lost interest in hosting the exhibit. We are now searching for
a new venue in which to present the exhibit at some future time.
