Shocking!

Another time I was riding my bike down a hill and did not see a large boulder, being too interested in some women across the road. So the bike flipped over and I threw up my arms to protect my face from the rising pavement. I slid for about 20 feet.

When I stopped, I was bleeding all over my arms, and bits of dirt and gravel were embedded in my skin. I decided I had better get myself cleaned up, so I went into the restroom of a nearby gas station. I washed my wounds with soap and water. Unfortunately the "soap" was Boraxo, a gritty substance whose main advantage was that it could remove almost anything from your skin, including your skin. It was really quite painful.

Next, I went to a nearby grocery store to buy some bandages because I was still bleeding. As I stood there in the checkout line, blood dripping on the floor, the cashier looked at me with great concern and said, "Are you okay?." "Yeah," I said, "I just need this box of bandaids." I must have been in shock.
