Shocking!When I was about 12 years old, my sister (who was 10 at the time) asked me "why is my hair darker than yours?" It seems that she wanted to have blond hair like Farrah Fawcett. I told her that I could dye her hair with some household chemicals, and she readily agreed. First I needed something to remove the old color, so I took some Boraxo and Comet, and mixed it together with some Ammonium hydroxide. I began to get a little dizzy while doing this, so I dug-up my dad's old Army gas mask and put it on. After testing the solution on a clipping of my own hair, I called my sister into the bathroom. She too complained of feeling dizzy and nauseous, but we only had 1 gas mask, and I figured I needed clear vision to perform the experiment, so I kept the mask. As it turns our, she passed out a short time later, so I was able to complete the dye job without interruption. But she didn't regain consciousness for another 3 weeks in the Hospital. But what was left of her hair had turned blond!
