Danny Pintauro

Starring Danny Pintauro

Former child star Danny Pintauro (best known for his eight-year run as Jonathan Bower on ABC-TV's Who's The Boss) performs his "breakout" role as a down-in-his-luck gay hustler with a heart of gold. Direct from a sold-out Off-Broadway run, this play takes place in the past, in the present and in the infinity of Gary's mind. Armed with his belief that things will work out for the best and wearing his lucky leopard print underwear, Gary dreams about kissing somebody -- anybody. However, along the way, he finds himself in the Big Apple addicted to phone sex, attending memorial services for strangers and passing out at the memory of Cream of Wheat boxes. His affinity for strange situations leads him through an unforgettable circle of porn stars, deaf transvestites and a dog named Rodney. The Velocity of Gary is a powerfully moving play about a young hustler learning too much too fast.

Playwright James Still is the recipient of the Charlotte B. Chorpenning Playwright Award for Distinguished Body of Work and is a current recipient of a TCG Pew Charitable Trust National Theatre Artist Grant with Indiana Repertory Theatre in Indianapolis where he is Playwright-in-Residence. He has written for the Nickelodeon' s television series Maurice Sendak's Little Bear and is currently writing for the new Bill Cosby series Little Bill on Nickelodeon.

Danny Pintauro's other television credits include a five-year continuing role on As The World Turns, a leading role on CBS-TV' s Timestalkers and an acclaimed guest star spot on Highway to Heaven. Recent theatre credits include Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel's revision of her play Hot n' Throbbing at Arena State and Bosey in Charlotte Repertory Theatre' s production of Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde.
