Because the '62 Meteor is a product of the Ford Motor Company, many parts will interchange with other models made by Ford durring the same time frame. This page is here to help people get an idea of what kinds of cars will have parts that will interchange with the '62 Meteor, and for that matter, what will interchange with other Fords of about the some age. There are many many little parts, and of course listing every last one is something I don't ever intend to do, therefore, this is intended only to help people get a rough idea of what may or may not work, and is NOT intended as a reference or a 100% accurate source. MECHANICAL PARTS (Engine, Transmition, Suspention, Etc.)
Most engine parts of the Meteor are the same as the Fairlane, so most of these parts can be interchainged. Along with this, most other mechanical parts from suspention to wipers are the same too, so the Fairlane is a good sorce of parts. Also, when it came time to get my brakes redone, I ended up getting drums from a newer Comet ('64 or '65 I think). Sence the Comets became a little bigger in the mid '60s, there is also a possiblity of getting mechanical parts from them.
INTERIOR
Many of the Farilane's interior parts are also the same, the insides of the doors are identical, and so are things like the steering column and wheel. Keep in mind too that alot of thing such as the dome light and steering column are found on many cars made by Ford all through the '60s. One diffrence is the knobs. The fords use plastic knobs on the dash and window cranks, where the Meteor has chrome. The Montereys use the same windows cranks and probably the same knobs as the Meteors do, and I know that in the mid '60s the Comets also use these knobs on the dash, although the window cranks had changed by that time. I'm not sure what the earily '60s Comets used.
BODY
Most of the body parts, althought similar to parts on other cars, are most likely unique to the Meteor. Your're probably asking yourself "What about Meteors made in other years". Well, the Meteor was only made in the U.S. for a few years, '62, '63, and maybe '61. For some reason, Ford cars and trucks sold in Canada are sold as Mercurys, but sold only as Fords in the U.S. Because of this, there are actually Canadian Mercury Meteors around that are newer than '63, but I think they are just the same basic car as a full sized Ford model sold in the U.S. Of all these cars, only the '62 and '63 have the same body style. All this means is that the doors and fenders and stuff like that is the same, the chrome and tail-lights are for the most part different (there are pieces here and there that are the same).
MISC.
Radios: The part number for the '62 Meteor is 2TMY, and the part number for the '63 radio is 3TMY. These radios look the same, but the '62s are tube type and the '63s are transistor.
