Chow Raid

A worried Hoi-Polloi ring

The Beans need chow to survive. The only folks who have chow are the Hoi-Polloi Ring Herd, and they don't want to give it up. To get the chow, Mr. Spook leads the Chow Sol'jer Army on Chow Raids.

A Chow Raid starts with Gran'Ma'Pa dropping a Sprout-Butt. Mr. Spook catches it with his trusty fork, and he and the Chow Sol'jer Army jump off the Legendary Edge. They descend through the Four Realities and the Bone Zone until they reach their destination, the Hoi-Polloi Ring Herd.

The arrival of the Beans makes the Hoi-Polloi form into rings to protect their valuable chow. To break the rings, the Chow Sol'jer Army's Spear Fling'n Flank'rs attack with the help of Mr. Spook. When the ring has been broken open, the Chow Pluk'rs enter and capture the free-floating chow.

Chow Pluk'r pluk'n chow

Going on a Chow Raid can be dangerous business! From time to time Beans get hurt, suffering injuries like krink'l leg.

Once the Chow Pluk'rs have done their duty, Mr. Spook turns the Sprout-Butt over to the injured Hoi-Polloi. Its presence soothes their pain. They speak secret words of love to it, and in time it will swell and ripen into a new batch of chow. This exchange of a Sprout-Butt for chow is central to the Beanworld's ecology. Professor Garbanzo investigated this in the back-up story Proffy, the Snoopy Anthropologist.

The end of a successful Chow Raid comes with the reappearance of the Chow Sol'jer Army at the Proverbial Sandy Beach. The captured chow is taken to the Chowdown Pool, where the Chow Pluk'rs unload their pluk'n wands. Then everyone soaks in the delicious, nutritious bath.
